      The Future of Lucid dreaming?

Hey everyone, it's been months since I've posted, and I just had this thought after watching Vanilla Sky recently.

What do you think the future holds for LDs? Will we eventually be able to harness and control LDs? Will companies actually be able to sell us a "lucid dream option" as per Vanilla Sky? If so, how? I've always thought that future virtual reality was pointless if we could just induce LDs at will.

IMO, I think scientists should really be looking into this.

I think cutting out the work involved in achieving full lucidity by nature cuts out the benefits gained from full lucidity. Everyone already CAN induce lucid dreams at will, it just takes time and dedication, and when you consider that dreams are another form of reality, it might not be such a bad thing that it requires a certain degree of mental discipline before people can achieve improved control over themselves and their realities.

I agree with Warm Gun. The process of learning to lucid dream doesn't just involve a person learning to become lucid; it also changes how they view themselves the nature of reality. If you start giving people who have never thought about these things the tools to lucid dream at will, they might find it difficult to stay sane.

LD has changed my personal perspective and outlook on life. I'm much calmer and relaxed than I used to be and I think it's a great thing. It's more of a lifestyle change or an awakening then it is a product of work.

I think western society is starting to look beyond physical walls and more in to the non physical. For example Look at the top grossing movie of all time then look at how well inception was received. expansion of consciousness is happening. Now Look at the technology of today compared to 100 years Ago in a hundred more years Our technological advances will come more from dream control processes then anything else. Imo. Namaste.

"when you fall unconscious, what your mind expresses is a dream.
When you are aware, what your mind expresses is creativity. It creates your life.
When you are in a higher state of consciousness, it not only creates the life of whatever you want, but also on whom ever you want". -LifeBlissFoundation

I actually enjoy the challenge of doing it, and it has also changed me as a person, i get less stressed now as i know i can just escape in a lucid when i sleep and get away from it all, if it was just given to me on a plate i wouldn't have learned from it and changed my view on life, i would say the challenge of learning to do it makes it even more exciting , some people may do things in LD that they wouldn't in RL but what if they brought it into their RL with them, not sure if you get my jist but i'm meaning some of the bad shit peeps do, it could cause more harm then good..i say just stick to the challenge of doing it yourself and all the hard work it takes..Warmgun has already said what i would have also so in my opinion no it wouldn't be a good thing

Since some scientists are already starting to make dream recording machines, I think that in the future LDs will be used to make movies. The director would just have a dream along the storyline of the movie and then have it recorded on video. Even if it looks very unreal etc it can still be retouched by CGI and voila, no casting, no props, no set instant blockbuster movie!
