I think we should have a "sign" so we know who is a dreamer in real life. If everybody wears it, we will all know each other! Here is my idea, I think everyone should present a few ideas and we can decide later.

As much as that is a good idea, I think it would be hard to decide on a universal symbol. For me, I often draw a little sign on my hand that serves as an RC, but its a personal sign that doesn't apply to many people or the general oneironaut community, as it were (its a cosmic egg for those who care).

But maybe if a community wide effort was made to adopt a symbol? Might turn out beneficial.

Dreaming is a personal matter between yourself your subconscious and whatever else you believe in. I don't believe there's much to be gained by making a proper subculture of it. All humans can be dreamers regardless of anything else they might happen to be.

I have less in common with some of you lovely guys than I have with people who don't dream but share some of my ethical code.

This is a pretty good idea, because lucid dreamers tend to keep their hobby to themselves in my expierience.

I freekin love this idea. I can see it now. I get pulled over by a cop and he sees that I am wearing a giant foam finger that say LD on it and lets me off. SWEET!

Lucid dreaming is normal. Since not a lot of people know about it, we don't want to have it come off as some cult-ish gesture.

If someone asked what you were doing, try to imagine explaining the ritual for finding others of your kind.

It doesn't come off as anymore cultish than writing RC on your hand.

This would be great if we could come up with a sign that would be recognized by dreamers, but it'd have to be something that would slip under the radar of the normal person. If we could do something like that I'd help it out along the way, but I work sales among other things and can't really walk around with foam fingers and symbols on my hands. I kinda like the idea of the LDer's salute because it's subtle, but recognizable.

I kinda like this idea. I was thinking tattoo. I've been trying to decide on a design anyway... it doesn't have to be big or even on the hand. It could be a subtle little "D" in a cloud or a pillow for instance. It could be located on your neck, your leg, your shoulder, wherever. And if you don't like tats, then maybe a tie tack or pin of somekind? The salute is a good idea too. We could do both.

Now that sounds like an idea doable by everyone. We would be able to put a symbol on any numbers of easily seen things without too much unneeded attention, or if we want we could tat it on our neck/arm (edit: to clarify, I'm talking about temporary here. Don't do something you'll regret later). The salute could then become a secondary method.

please dont get a tattoo people. Tattoos are on you for the rest of your life. Are you telling me you want to ruin your chances at some future jobs because you have a pillow tattooed on your neck? No thanks from me
