Thread: lucid dream or ... ?

Hello,

I am new here and I thought that this would be the best place to tell my experience and ask: was this a lucid dream? Was it a precursor to an OBE? How can I foster this kind of experience if it happens again? What did the birds mean? Any ideas are welcome.

Here’s what occurred:

It was a sunny afternoon and I was napping on the couch with my left side down with my eyes facing the back of the couch and my head resting on a small pillow. As I fell asleep I was overcome by a buzzing sensation in my body that also manifested itself as a buzzing sound in my ears. As I became aware of the buzzing, my body became paralyzed. Aware of what was happening I opened my eyes and tried to move and even scream, but I couldn’t. I was a bit scared. I was able to look around and I could see the couch in front of my eyes, my feet resting at the end of the couch, and the sun shinning in the room. As I was observing the scene and trying unsuccessfully to move a small sparrow suddenly flew out of the kitchen (which is around the corner from the end of the couch by my feet) and around behind me and landed on the arm of the couch behind my head. I could hear its wings moving through the air as it settled there. After this I continued to try and move as I was getting a bit panicky. All the while everything I could see was just as if I was awake. After what seemed like a short time I saw two more sparrows fly out of the kitchen around behind me to land again in the same spot as the first, on the arm of the couch just behind the top of my head. After a great struggle (again, I was scared and did not know what to do) I was able to ‘wake’ myself and actually move. At this point I was really awake in terms of daily life. Of course I looked for the sparrows, but there was nothing there.
