      looseing intrest.

      Well, here the thing.

I have been trying for 6-7 months now to get a Lucid dream but haven't been able to get anything, every night i try this. i have no job school or commitment's and i have been putting all my time into trying to get a lucid dream.

The thing is i can't for some reason, i cant even get SP. And i can only remember dreams on Occasion, they are not clear or realistic in the slightest.

And over the past week i have found myself feeling less and less interested in it, I'm still trying as hard as i can but I'm just loosing faith i guess, anyone else went threw this stage of doubt?

I go through this stage of doubt whenever I have a dry spell.

But it sounds like you are having some significant problems, and from what you've written I don't know that you are attempting to LD properly.

You say that you have been trying for over 5 months, but have terrible recall? Do you keep a journal? How often to you write in it? How many dreams can you remember per day, week, or even month?

If you don't have good recall, there is almost no way you will be able to lucid dream. Please post some more info so we can find a way to help you out, 6 months is too long to be going on without any results

      Thanks for the reply

Well, Basically i have tried all kinds of stuff, you probably wont find a more dedicated person then me, literally been trying every single night not one night i haven't stopped since March.

WILD / DILD / WBTB / Subliminal / How to trick your body to fall asleep / Positive thought / Lucid MP3's / and some of my Own Thought up techniques.

I can remember about 4'ish dreams a month at best ;/ and even then they are not that clear, have a notepad with pencil by my bed and everything!

None have worked for me, thats why I'm kinda frustrated and downhearted

You've definitely gotta work on your recall. You probably have been having success, but are simply forgetting the fact that you had a lucid dream. Sounds impossible, I know, but it is very very true and unfortunately kind of easy

It is good that you know all the theory and terms I guess. If I were you I would work on the recall, it sounds like that is the main problem. From now on, make a serious effort to write in your journal every single time that you wake up in the middle of the night. You are having dreams, you just aren't remembering them. Get your body in the habit of taking your dreams seriously. Even if you can't remember the dream, write down what time you woke up, what kind of a mood you were in (peaceful, afraid, just plain tired). I'd even write down the position I was laying in. After a while, hopefully you should start recalling more and more dreams.

Are you doing reality checks? While you are working on that recall, you should also be doing RCs. This is all about proving to your mind that you are serious and dedicated, which it sounds like you are. If you aren't doing RCs, just pick something basic like looking at your hands. Look at them whenever you see a digital clock, whenever you wake (False awakenings!), whenever a strange coincidence happens, whenever things seem or feel strange, whenever you use a lightswitch... you'll probably forget to do it some of these times, so just make a big list for yourself.

Don't get discouraged, I think with the help of all of the people on this forum and your determination, we can get you LDing in no time

Yeah, are you stressing about having a lucid dream? If so, then that's the most counterproductive thing you can do. Stress, of any kind, kills your chance to remember your dreams. If you don't remember your dreams, you won't get lucid as Shift said. Four dreams a month is pretty bad. Your first priority should be to relax and let things come more naturally as ray said, and then just focus on working on your recall. Focusing on recall often leads to some unexpected LDs!

Yup yup, I usually remember 5 dreams a night. So we really gotta get the recall up!

On the other hand, certain kinds of stress can be helpful for dreaming. Stress about exams definitely gets me crazy dreams, and after an exam I usually take a nap, and actually I often get lucid during those after-exam naps. So I think the stress can help. But trying too hard to lucid dream does sometimes appear to be the culprit, chilling out may let it come. Viewing LDs in any sort of negative way really won't help you attain them. So try to think positive and just enjoy the next few weeks as you build your recall. Remember: the goal now is not to lucid dream for a few weeks, simply to work on remembering non-lucids. You may just find yourself LDing, but don't try for it.

Here, try this. "Forget" what you have learned and try starting over. If you need inspiriation and a more interesting method, try the program Paradiso. I very inspiring program. I had tried over a year for my FIRST LD, and this program not only re-inspired me every time but it helped me accomplish my first LD.

I had a SHORT (10 second long) LD the other night, after a dry spell that lasted well over 4 months. My dream recall used to be great (I'd remember 3-4 a night) but now it's shocking (lucky if I remember 1). I lost motivation at the start which in turn, made me lose all my LD skill.

I miss this site, and I miss dreams. I'm gonna try and stick to this again!

Err, don't put a bunch of time into getting a lucid dream. Only sleep regular hours (should be around 7-9 hours) or you'll have a hard time getting your first.

Don't try methods like WILD or VILD etc. DILD - Reality checks and self encouragement would likely be the best for you.

I would do a different RC. I do the "try-to-push-your-finger-through-your-palm" RC.

      Here's the reasoning:

How often do you have a dream in which you are wearing a watch?

Not very much or not at all, right?

But you almost always have a body. (Almost. I've had some weird ones.)

So do a RC that involves your body and nothing else, like finger-thru-palm, look-at-hands, or try-to-jump-unusually-high.

Woah, just noticed that look-at-hands sounds like an Indian/Native American name.

      Chief Look-at-Hands.

That guy was probably really good at LDing

I don't know, if you go to look at your watch for an RC it should just appear there since you expect it to.
Just make sure to do even more RCs when it doesn't show up!

What's really great is this one time I saw a watch on my wrist and thought that since I was looking at digital time, I may as well do an RC... took me a few tries to realize I don't even own a digital watch

I feel bad for you dude, my advice is to take a step back and just try to remember dreams right as you wake up. Take it easy with all the induction methods and whatnot. My first lucid dream happened very naturally in a DILD more than a month after I had even though about lucid dreaming. Not saying you should give up, just saying if trying isn't helping maybe you shouldn't try? Anyway I may not be that qualified as I have only had around 5 successive lucid dreams in 3 months (last year). But today marks the day that I start again .

When i try to remember them i dont remember them atall but anyway ile see how it goes, all i can do is keep trying, or not try atall
