      Motivation Keeps Fading... Help. :(

It's a shame for me to be typing this, the fact that I somewhat used to be a natural years ago... Ever since I spoiled myself with lucid dreaming after learning more about it 3 years ago, lucid dreaming comes rare now.

So lately I've been thinking about lucid dreaming again. Surely, you've seen a lot more posts from me lately. What am I trying to start up? Motivation. That was the key three years ago from me that drove me so far into my interests of lucid dreaming. Reading posts about other people's dreams; reading dream journals, etc. Yeah, I do get motivated. I start remembering how I defeated nightmares and flew and explored my dreams... all that. But, the moment I stop reading about lucid dreaming, my motivation disappears quickly. The moment I leave these forums, the thought of lucid dreaming is far from me.

I don't know what I can do to keep me motivated while I'm not reading about it or participating in a dream forum like this.

I have school, so I barely get some free time to concentrate on lucid dreaming. Maybe that's what's keeping my motivation far. But I really need some advice if I'm going to have the chance to spark up my lucidity again.

I wish I had some great advice for you, but I don't since I am currently going through a period of lack of motivation right now. The only thing that helps me somewhat is that I reality check from time to time out of habit.

I experienced this phase about a month ago as well. It lasted probably about 1 to 2 whole months. My life started to change and I slowly lost interest. After that I went into a dry spell and completely gave up on lding. All I can say is lucid dreaming is something you can do your entire life, if it isn't working for you right now take a break and come back to it. I strongly believe you will find your way back to lding in good time.

      Ah, my sympathies...

The only help I can give is you should set a goal for yourself, something that you want to accomplish in your dreams or something you want to try.

If in doubt, take it too the next level

      I know what you mean.

My recall used to be golden. I'd get lucid dreams twice a week. I'd always remember to do reality checks.

These days I'm lucky to wake up and remember a dream. I lucid dream once every couple weeks. I feel horrible about losing the ability, but I feel powerless to do anything about it. That in turn lowers my motivation, partly because I know how much work it can be and I have little spare time this year with school. It really, really sucks.

I think part of the reason is material possessions. I got two things I wanted greatly; a RC plane I can fly in my house and an Xbox 360. Suddenly my interest in airplanes and video games spiked again, and to make room my lucid dream interest fell. I feel like lucid dreaming is such a more fun thing to do, but once again I hit a mind block and feel like I can't change it.

      Help us.

That's the first time I used a smiley in the DV forums, that means we really need help people!
