If you can manage to watch a TV show called "Heroes" that's great for inspiration.

Edit: Just so you know in the top right you can see if you have private mail, and you can change your profile, like have a picture or tell us where you're from by clicking on User CP (control panel i think)

EG. some one tells u that if u think of a cat u will die, whats the first thing that pops to your mind, for most a cat. its the same in the dream world, u wanna fly and u know its possible as there your dreams but there is that lil voice in the back of your head that spoils it for u.
i think that answer is to belive in yourself, i know that just sounds pathetic but its true, there YOUR dreams you control them.
for some people it takes alot of focus to keep your dreams healthy and realisic.
just forget about it and know the next time u dream all will be fluent, etc etc.lol
hope i shed some light, i know its annoying cos i have this but fustration is only followed by failure.

Thank you for the inspiration. I know I'll keep trying its just that I've been trying for so 6 some odd years. I knew about the profile thing, its just that I wanted to get my idea out quickly so that I could get a response earlier, hopefully before I go to sleep. I've seen a lot of good methods and ideas here so I'm going to try them tonight. Wish me luck and good luck to you

How you going mate? You're not doing anything wrong as far as i'm concerned. This is something that, in my experience anyway, will happen a lot more randomly than under control. The only success i've ever had with attaining a ld through means of control is through positive reinforcement before I go to sleep, and even then that's pretty rare. Remember too, that a ld doesn't have to mean flying or superpowers or anything extravagant, it is the reality that you are after. It could be the most mundane thing ever - but it will stay with you for life. Best of luck mate.

The problem is faith. The dreamer has to believe as though it's real, not just ok I'm gonna be ironman. You ARE ironman! Also another problem is reason belief. As with reality there has to be cause and effect, it's easier when you have a logical reason, one that you are familiar with to control dream elements. Like making someone appaear, you could use a TV remote to do it.

Everyone so far has given advice based on belief, and that's a really good start. Obviously, for anything in the dream world to work, you have to believe that it will because everything about lucid dreaming has to do with your mind and thoughts. But, although you have the lucid part down (which is to say, becoming aware of the fact that you're dreaming) your problem is control. Dream control and becoming lucid are two different things. You need to practice both equally.

There are different techniques to improve control, and the very first one is that as soon as you realize you're dreaming you need to stop everything. Don't do a single thing until you've stopped and really asked yourself if you're dreaming, done a few reality checks, even talked yourself through it by saying out loud "I am dreaming", and completely stabilized the dream. There are different ways of further stabilizing the dream by rubbing your hands together or spinning, (but spinning can cause you to lose lucidity sometimes, so I'd stick with the hand rubbing if you're a newbie.) These things will only take a few moments and they'll end up making the dream clearer, longer lasting, and easier to control. And really try to be aware of your surroundings... avoid "tunnel vision" if you know what I mean. After you're well grounded in the dream, things will be much easier to control and you'll be able to do all the things you're having trouble with.

Right, so I have to believe and all the other stuff mentioned. I get it now. A little bit anyway. Last night was a bust for me. I was trying that technique with staying very still until I fell asleep, so I did that and I failed, numorously, then I actually fell asleep and in my dream I was in bed trying the technique. And since I had to stay perfectly still, I didn't try Reality Checks until a couple more times. When I realized it was a dream I was like "Yes" and then I woke up to my alarm clock. "No"

I can't remember the last time I had a series of trying to fly and succeeding dreams. I should make that my goal for LDing some time.
