Sudden ability to Lucid Dream with regularity (sorta)

So I was pretty into Lucid Dreaming during the summer of '07 (as evidence by my last login dating to that time) and was keeping a dream journal and testing during my conscious state. I got to a point where i was able to realize that i was in a lucid dream but then i would wake up pretty soon afterwards out of excitement. I just lost interest in Lucid Dreaming for a while, a long while. Then one night a few months back I had the most vivid lucid dream i have ever had. I was instantly able to realize it was a dream and then do whatever i wanted. I flew for the first time. I asked dream characters that i knew questions that i would never ask. I tried to demonstrate to the dream characters that it was a dream by floating (i couldn't do it so no one believed me). It was great.

Then it became a more frequent occurance that i would realize it was a dream. I have not been trying at all in anyway to do it but every now and again (usually once or twice a week) I'll realize it is a dream and try and mess around a bit. In fact, just last night I did it. I was in the middle of a dream and then suddenly I looked at my cellphone. I think that my cell is my trigger because the last few times I have looked at it and it just didn't work like technology should and i automatically realize what is going on. I can do some stuff but i never realize that i can do as much as one as able to do in dreams while i am dreaming. I guess I'll practice that in the future.

I guess I am trying to see if anyone else has just had lucid dreaming start coming to them all of a sudden. I swear I hadn't even thought about it before this whole streak started to happen. Here's hoping you guys can share some thoughts.

Once I can have lucids as much as I have regular dreams, I will be very happy.

What a neat example of latent learning! It must feel great--everything clicking together at once.

i have just been thinking about LDing all day, every day. doing my reality checks, keeping up with my dream journal. As i lay in bed at night before i fall asleep, i focus on trying to become lucid.

the increase in RCs and starting a new dream journal have helped alot.

it also has alot to do with confidence and being positive about it

i cant wait to fall asleep tonight, i KNOW i will become lucid (and if i dont, thats cool, i will do it the next day)
      am i dreaming?

To a certain degree I experienced this, but it required knowing about lucid dreaming and a lot of RCing. I had my first lucid naturally a few years ago, and of course I got way into it. But I didn't reality check or anything of the sort, I just thought about LDing and I only managed to have about 2 a year. Once I joined Dream Views and started reality checking, that frequency increased really dramatically, to about a lucid or two every week or every other week. Then over the summer, when I could get more sleep, it went to about 2-3+ every week, even after I stopped keeping a steady dream journal and RCing frequently. I still do reality checks though, but I don't get enough sleep, don't keep a DJ, and rarely do RCs... so my LD frequency has leveled off Have your sleeping habits changed at all? It's cool that an awesome lucid can help motivate you And also to have a reliable dream sign!

I completely understand you, OP. I stopped posting a long time ago but haven't stopped LDing. I've even stopped my journals, but I still seem to maintain about 3-5 LDs a month. I think what has happened is akin to the saying "like riding a bike." You might not have ridden a bike in years, but hop back on and you have no trouble going places. I think it's like a switch gets flipped and your brain realizes that these states of awareness are possible, legitimate, and easy to achieve.

      Have fun!
