I'm just wondering how you are gauging hours. Number of dreams before or forcing yourself to wake after a lucid, me being a newbie?

Every night, I automatically wake up after 3-5 hours. At this point I'll remember 0-2 dreams which are not lucid. All of the lucids that I have recorded have happened after that first waking (with one exception).

I can LD very little sleep, especially if I'm sleep deprived and my REM phase starts eariler than normal. Often my first dream of the night (if I manage to wake up after it so I can remember it) will be lucid, even if it isn't a REM dream.
