      Meditation and Lucid Dreaming

Is there any ties with lucid dreaming and meditation? I've read somewhere ( I forget what site) that masters of meditation have visuals while they meditate. Is this true? And I personally love to meditate. Will meditation effect my dreaming in any way?

Meditation is good for you. Meditate often! It helps me focus on dreaming before bed. I have better recall and lucidity when I meditate. It also depends on how I meditate. When I go deep, I practice lucid dreaming techniques in my mind. I visualize myself performing reality checks, and writing down my dreams.

The tibetan doctrines say to use one pointed meditation to increase lucid dreaming. Basically you calmly stare at an object or spot while repeating a mantra.

Yes, this is what religions have been doing to people for generations... When a person has a "religious experience" it is because their deep prayer or meditation has risen up into a real visual.

Start with image streaming if you want to improve your imaging ability. Then practice staying in theta state through meditation and day dreaming to make the images as real as possible. Sooner or later you've trained your brain to enter this state while awake... just remember it is very disconcerting even when you do know what is going on, and that usually you can't control when it turns "on" when you 1st start experiencing this.

Saw it and I wonder is it really that simple, should I just sit close my eyes and become an "observer" as he calls it?

Would this increase awareness? anybody had results with this?

      Yep I have.

You have to learn what it means to simply 'be'.

Its about finding yourself, your conciousness, and just 'being' it. I know it sounds all airy fairy, but thats just cause its so hard to explain.

You will learn what it means though if you sit down, relax, and just observe thoughts instead of getting involved.

As ClouD put it; Let your mind wonder, just don't follow it.

Heck yes, mediatation helps. Even without considering what kind of meditation you do, the very basic act of observing your thoughts will be a huge benefit.
