      Wadda you think?

Are dream characters other people in the same astral space, or just objects like anything else made by your mind?

      (I vote for objects).

I think they are just figments of your imagination, but that means they can be the 'appiritions' of people, thoughts and memories you have about them.

By far, Mothra (in all of it's forms) is the worst kaiju of all time.

      I agree with this.
However, I don't completely rule out that they COULD be other dreamers on the same astral plane, as you say. I just don't think it's AS likely as the other option.

Sure, anything is possible, but I'll take the skeptical path so I won't get excited over nothing.

I believe that it might be possible that a minority of dream characters are actual people. So I try to be kind to them, unless I'm absolutely sure they are just creations of my dreaming mind.

Heh, yea. But then again, people tend to browse most of the sections anyway.

For scientific reasons I said object. However, there is much that we can't explain in dreams, and the brains are sensitive to electromagnetic stimulation. Things in dreams can't be other people, but I think that large electrical fields near the brain can cause dreams to swing in strange ways.

That can actually be the cause of seeing shadow people or ghost sightings.

Actually, I compared the insanity of my dreams when sleeping with the TV on and off. An on TV caused dream characters to act out, dreams had thicker storylines, and had a lot more emotion.

I'm sad to have to vote that they are only creations of my own mind.

I am not opposed to the idea that they are real beings. I want them to be. I just haven't ever seen anything that would lead me to believe they are. I will never stop looking, nonetheless.

i would have to say thati strongly beleive that two dreamers can contact eachother in the dream world. its is a common toltec ritual to have a master dreamer sleep next to someone who is only just learning, the master dreamer would then aid the dreamer in the dream world to attain an out of body experience, but hey, maybe it is just a figment of imagination. our minds are powerful, wonderful things

Something like that seems very possible, to me. We are very sensitive to another person's presence, even while asleep. I know my girlfriend and I always wake up at the exact same time in the middle of the night. Or she will slightly change her breathing, and suddenly I will wake up and notice the tiny change.

Even something more far-fetched like somehow picking up another person's energy waves would seem more possible at this close proximity.

the reason i think this would be possible is because your energy fields are intersecting.

now, something that really interests me is the holographic universe theory, its a theory in physics that states that there is not such thing as distance, that distance is simply a figment of your imagination, the way your brain puts things together so that you can relate to the world.

if this is true (and there is significant evidence to support that it is, you can read about it in a book call "the holographic universe") and the toltecs really are able to communicate in the dream world then perhaps it is possible to communicate across the world in a dream. imagine if we all stopped using this forum and got together in a dreamscape!

There are plenty of couples that sleep in close proximity and don't encounter each other in their dreams.

That is the most common design of dream characters. They often are about non-existant people.

Maybe it would be more plausible if technology were to create something to help aid in doing it . If people can enter your dreamscape though, than there would be no privacy.

Have you seen the movie Paprika? It is all about a device that lets you enter someone's dream, and the consequences.

perhaps it takes the intent of meeting someone, i have a friend who constantly dreams while awake, and this morning he told me of an experience where he put his intent into meeting someone, and the experience and advice he recieved ministered to him more that some dream character could.

also about technology, i dont think we would need it. if we could make technology that could allow us to have "cooperative dreams" then i dont think its beyond normal human capability. take cars for instance, we use them to travel, don juan, the central teacher of carlos castaneda (im sure you all know who that is) had such control over his dream body that he could make it appear to people as a physical body. if everyone was in touch with this dormant ability cars would be obsolete, except for perhaps picking up groceries

im not saying that it would be easy, im just saying that i think once one has proper control over a lucid dream, the application of intent may just be the trick

I highly doubt that. I dreamt about talking to some friends that do lucid dreaming, with the intention of meeting them, more than once, and walla, I did. When I woke up, they had no clue what I was talking about.
