      Muscle spasms

I tried the staying still method I read here (you stay absolutely still until you fall asleep but remain aware). My knee and eye muscles started twitching more and more until I stopped. Any idea what this could be?

Could be a hypnic jerk, but it sounds odd to me since you say "it happens more and more." You need to relax more, and not think about it too much (because you could've just psyched yourself out). If it is a hypnic jerk, then it is perfectly normal (happening many times per night is abnormal. It could be an underlying disorder, or perhaps you focused on it so much that it occurred more often).

Do they happen every night? Do they happen many times per night? Or is this a fluke? Please keep us updated.

HAHAHA I HATE having hypnic jerks in school. That's the absolute worst thing. Cause it feels like you fall down stairs and you look around to see if any one noticed you JERKING awake. I love seeing other people do it though, it just makes me LOL.

It only happened when I tried to stay still. It continued until I stopped staying still.
I read about this method here:

The same thing happens to me too, and they definately aren't hypnic jerks. I just let them happen, and so far they just make me feel more relaxed.

      I get that occasionally...

I would suggest focusing on your breathing. In through the nose, out through the mouth, slow... Count your breaths, count, repeat a mantra.

Focus on each part of your body, giving each bit of your body your attention one at a time until you feel that part of your body is completely relaxed.

Breathe out the tensed, stressed feelings, and breathe in the relaxation...
(^^ that made me sound like a hippy. I would like to clarify, for the record, I am not a hippy. Just because when I was a kid I used to wear tye-dye and... oh god. Just leave it alone guys. Let this one go. Thanks.)

That happens to me sometimes, it's so annoying when i try to WILD, you could try stretching before attempting it, that seems to have helped me.

Tried it again, something very strange happened. I lay there for a long time without anything happening when suddenly I felt very weird and the muscle spasms started. I was fully aware and not dreaming. After a while I moved and when I got up I noticed the tips of my fingers were numb.
