depends on your goal. you could make it up as you go along but better to have pre-planned things you wanna do. I "wasted" my first one on flying and "natural desires", will use the next one for religeous matters like chanting a buddhist mantra and going into lotus pose and conversing with the buddha, but that's just me. You should use it for anything that you want to do but can't do in real life. Imagine yourself as Neo in the matrix at the moment of his 'awakening'- what do you do?

I tend to want to do things that are impossible that I used to daydream about when I was younger, or see in movies/cartoons. Things that under no circumstances could I do in real life. Things like lucid sex are a huge waste to me, so I avoid it. Some people enjoy having sex in every single lucid dream. It's not currently one of my goals, and I don't see it becoming one in the future. But if that's what you want to do, and you couldn't care less about flying or whatever, then that's your goal. It's a very very personal and subjective thing. Although I must stress that any time I attain lucidity, it was not a waste, no matter how quickly it ends or what I do.

well, they will prepare you for the real world, better than any virtual reality. You will have less "I wish I would have....." moments.

Probably, if it effects your behavior in the real world.

I haven't LD'd yet, so don't quote me on any of this stuff.

The only way you could waste an LD, in my opinion, would be to just sit there and do nothing. Then again, doing nothing could be fulfilling to you if you're constantly busy and you want a chance to rest.

There's no such thing as a "wrong goal". All goals will ultimately end with someone getting something out of it. No one can come up to you and say, "Buying a pet is stupid. You shouldn't do that." In their mind, owning a pet is stupid. But if you really want a pet and you think it would be fulfilling, then by all means go and get one. Now, some goals can be morally wrong but that all depends on the viewer and that's not what we're talking about.

Your goals can influence the real world, depending on what they are. If you use your dream to practice asking your crush out on a date, then you'll be prepared for every different reaction in real life. You could practice giving a big speech that you have to give the next day.

IMO, wasting a dream is not getting to do what you want. 1st couple are almost always wastes.

I think the most "wasted" of all LD's are not by people who are trying to LD, and don't get things done in them, but rather, by naturals who don't even realize what they're doing is even called "lucid" dreaming. They think it's normal, and they don't realize their full potential.

I've done stupid stuff in my lucids, and felt like I wasted them after I woke up.
It's when you wake up and say "wtf did I do that for? That's stupid!"

Pretty much, but I didn't want to come out and say it. This is one of my least desirable things to do in a dream. It really sucks!!!

It's also pretty lame when you can't control the dream, like when I keep having FAs and stuff. It's so frustrating!

If you do something that you want to do in a Lucid Dream, then it is never a waste. Don't concern yourself as to what other people believe is a "good use", because everyone has their individual opinion.

For example, if one had their heart set on becoming a refrigerator in a Lucid Dream, they should go on and do it, even if some would consider it a "waste".

Even though you don't want to be quoted... I will quote you.
I think it's a good idea to prepare for something you are going to do in real life. And I find thoose goals as good examples

But i guess I'll find out what a wasted LD is when i get my first ones ^^

It's only a waste if you do things you don't want to be doing.

Other than that, you could say that you've wasted a LD if you got excited very early in the lucid part of your dream and because of that you woke up in excitement (followed by disappointment).

Just don't decide to take a nap. Or wake yourself up just to see if you can.

There are no wrong goals in Lucid Dreaming. Do what feels good and fufilling to you and you alone. When you acheive what you set out to do, that is all that matters in the end.
