How Can I Think Rationally in LDs?

I know, this is a duplicate post, but there are too many threads to search. How do you think straight in lucids? Once my goals are accomplished, I can't think go doing crazy things. Is it something that comes with practice?

Absolutely. As with dream control, dream consciousness starts (at least for me it did) as a jumbled mess. The spinning technique has helped me quite a bit though, if you've not heard of it, try a search on these forums, but its been so long since I've been here that I don't remember if it was a post or a guide. Anyways, spinning in my dream often brought focus, not only to the area surrounding me, but also to my thought process.

Yea, it doesn't cross my mind even though I know it exists. Maybe I'll have some set goals.

So what people say is that as you become aware of the possibility of LDs and as the dream recall increases so does possible consciousness in dreams grow, thus allowing us to control it?

I look at it like this: As I began to lucid dream a little more, I became less and less worked up about it each time... I mean, my first LD was AMAZING, and really exciting, but it was kind of like a loud crazy party...I couldn't concentrate and it was hard to do anything productive. Then, as I had a few more LDs, I began to calm down about it..as a consequence, I felt a lot more clear headed in my dreams.

I started to remember to do the spin technique, and in general got my bearings. I think this state of mind naturally leads to more control of dreams...just my 2 cents though.

Yeah it takes time. At first I was so excited I couldn't remember what I had wanted to do. But now I feel like I think more like I do in real life. I also try to have a plan of what I want to do when I go to bed so I (hopefully) won't waste a LD trying to decide what to do.

      Dream tasks help focus.

I've had a number of dreams where I realise Im dreaming and just charge off. But this can sometimes change to a kind of semi-lucid where I know what I want to achieve (i.e. find a teleport door to the moon) but get blocked by dream events, instead of taking more control.

So now I have a little list. Do reality checks. Anchor into the dream by touching and observing. Complete Dream task.

Didn't help much when I MILDed this morning though.
