      first WILD + question

      right, tonight I took Dizko's advice and finally took the plunge and instead of trying to WILD when going to sleep set an alarm to like 4AM.

      I was having some dream that I can't remember or I was just starting to have it, when I instantly knew that the 'reality' was terribly off and that I was dreaming, however that made my dream disappear and I now had nothing but a white-goldenish colored "full screen" in front of me, comparable to an LD version of the matrix loading program. I suddenly got the fear that I might wake up so I span around some, I think I had the false memory of my arms hitting the bed as I did so but that could have been planted there after I woke up by my mind to fill in the gaps, not sure, anyhow once I span around I now everything was black so I decided instead of making things even worse to let my mind take over for a while, but all it came up with was a logo that flew around like a screensaver that I saw in a previous non-lucid dream. then I woke up.

      question: Dizko said that counting breaths (my specific technique was counting while I breath in and saying "I'm dreaming" when breathing out) is ineffective- what technique should I use? For getting this first wild I just let my mind take over while I sat back and watched, not getting involved but still there.

      Heya

      Im not sure im understanding you fully, so forgive me if i don't make sense.
      Counting breaths as you fall asleep may work, but at the same time it might keep you too attached to your physical self, and so, keep you awake.

      so any advice regarding not falling asleep during SP?

      If you are already in 'Sleep Paralysis' then you are already 'asleep'.
      My own personal technique, if i find myself suddenly unable to move, seeing weird HI, hearing crazy sounds - Is to just keep my eyes closed, imagine a scene, and go into it.

      If that doesn't work, I just stand up. If you are 100% that you are in sleep paralysis, and you stand up, you will find that you are in a dream.

      Too me it sounds like you are asking for better ways to stay conscious as you fall back to sleep normally. There are a few ways, such as;

      - listening to a constant sound from a fan
      - Listening to some white noise
      - Telling yourself that you are dreaming over and over

      However, in my opinion, the best way is they way that you have already said;

      For getting this first wild I just let my mind take over while I sat back and watched, not getting involved but still there.
      This is probably the best way. You are more likely to actually be able to fall asleep, whereas counting, chanting, listening, and generally waiting for something to happen - is just going to keep you awake.
      Sorry if you have already heard this before, i do not mean to sound patronizing, but when Wilding, your aim is to fall asleep, not to stay awake. Focus is what keeps us awake. Awareness is the key to it. And it sounds like, from the quote above, that you already understand what awareness is - now its just about exercising that awareness.

      I wish you well! ;D

      thank you dizko! yeah sorry for the misunderstanding I thought I was sorta in SP when in fact it was just numbness and stuff- reading your replies to other threads helped me clarify that. So when in fact I do happen to fall into real SP and feel all those strange things I should make an effort to stand up and do stuff cause it will 100% be a dream?

      Well i normally try the visualizing method first. If i wake up in SP, i picture a scene and slowly make it more real, until all of a sudden, im actually in it.
      One of the coolest things ive done in my life.

      If that doesnt work, and im sure im in SP, i force myself to stand up.
      It should feel a bit crazy, like you are stuck to your bed by velcro or somthing. And that ripping velcro sound is actually what i hear during SP aswell, especially when i stand up and enter a dream =p
