woohoo, my first lucid, but i cant remember it very well...grrrrrrrrrr

      hello all

i had my fist lucid experience last night, it was a false awakening.

for the past 2 weeks i have put lucid dreaming on hold because my autistic brother came home from boarding school, i started going to be late, i started getting very stressed and worked up ( family arguments etc) which arnt good for lucid dreaming, i had no dream recall what so ever for the past 2 weeks (i usualy remember 1/2 a night)

anywhoos, yesterday i snapped after a family argument and went to bed, i woke up a couple of hours later, tried a sleep paralysis and had a false awakening.
as i was trying the sleep paralysis i think i gave up and failed i cant remember, but the next thing i know im lying in my bed, and i fell very electric (for those who have seen the film 'inkheart' it felt like the strange vibrating camera effect). i knew i was lucid but i did a reality check and i think my fingers went through my hands.

the thing is i cant remember any specifics, it seems very vauge, like a normal dream does.
i suppose its because of the stressful lifestyle i have at the moment.

what i find strange is i had a LD inspite of the stressful lifestyle, i think it had a lot to do with the 2 week break from attempting LD'ing, i took.

      over all message:

-if you cant get an LD take a 1 or 2 week break, not thinking about it, after this break, spend an hour or 2 reading up on it before bed, this seems to help.

-a stressful life does not help at all.

just thought id post it up

      Congrats!!!

I hope you have many more. A lot of people have their first LD's during a break. Trying so hard sets up a mental block I think. The same happened to me with my first LD. The second day of my break I had it.

has it been scientificly proven/disproven? i dont know much about that sort of thing
      what do you think?

It's one of my favorite games, although it wasn't what turned me on to LDing. I liked the quote because I think it describes LDing perfectly, its a there is no spoon sorta thing.

Personally I really doubt we've got a in-depth memory like in assassins creed but I'm no scientist. I just googled it and found a pretty interesting wikipedia page. . Just glancing over it there's a group of people that study Parapsychology, they think we do get specific memories like from the game. Who knows though, it would be sweet to live an ancestors live. Have you heard anything about a second game?

there is going to be a second game but it hasnt been officialy announced yet. they want to see how the profits of assasins creed pan out for a bit longer.

i think, one of the links between assasins creed and lucid dreaming, is that dreams unlock hidden things in the brain (assuming that the machine you lie on in assasins creed forces lucid dreams upon the user).

this first lucid dream i had is very vauge, i can hardly remember it ( due to stress, late nights etc).
but last night i had a dream in which i was describing my lucid dream to a friend, except i remebered a lot more of the lucid dream. it was a wild so, i remember lying in my bed, doing a finger through hand RC and getting out of bed. thats all i remember.

but in the dream i had last night i described all of this and there was a man, like from the film sunshine (the russian, with his skin all burned).
it seems that our dreamworld has much better access to past memories.
also, in my dream, having spent a while describing a past 'lucid dream' im supprised i didnt become lucid then, how on earth did i miss that opertunity?

I remember my first... It's been a while but it hardly lasted a second after I got it. All i remember was becoming lucid in a huge field of daises and then waking up, probably a false awakening looking back on it. I guess you got to start with baby steps is my point.

Hahaha... I've done a lot worse to that to miss lucidity. I once taught my cat to wild in a dream and thought nothing of it.

hehe, a cat. it seems that when we talk to other people (in dreams) about lucid dreaming, they achknowlege it as a real life concept. i think it is because they dont go 'hey you are dreaming, i am your dream character' that we dont take initiative. its as if in dreams we are very gulable towards dream characters, looking back actualy i recall that i nearly always believe dream characters

Yeah, I'm pretty much a dumb ass that believes every word he hears in dreams haha. As strange as they are though I suppose everyone is otherwise we wouldn't need a forum to learn how to LD. I've read that we lack logic because our prefrontal cortex is turn off.

hmmm, the prefrontal cortex, how would one keep it turned on. or is the fact that its turned off that allows us to dream.

i think we might have some control over it. im a film students so iv done lots of audience theory blady blady bla. but one thing i have noticed is that films are NOT logical and we dont approach them logicaly. the hero always slays the villain, and gets the girl, it nearly always follows a patern. and yet we still enjoy every film, we 'block out' the fact that we know the hero wont die half an hour in. this could be us turning of our prefrontal cortex (even if just a little bit), so we can enjoy the film.

and onother thing iv just realised, now that iv had the first lucid dream i now have a frame of reference for helping to induce another lucid dream, before, lucid dreaming was a concept, but i now know what it feels like etc. i kind of see it as a place, and now i have road signs to get there. WOOT

I"m not sure why we're programed to have our PC turned of but I know that when you become lucid it comes back. On I really think the PC coming on comes before the lucidity, like a switch you know.

Yeah... I can see what you mean, I really don't ever think about that during a movie but outside of one we both know that to be fact. That's weird, maybe we can ignore our logic when the situation calls for it. Or it could be that our brains are very lazy when we watch a movie or TV.

That's awesome dude, The have a specific feeling don't they? It definitely helped me.
