Exploring is usually my favorite thing to do in dreams. Reading my journal, it may seem a bit contradictory, but that's only because so much of my regular dream content is insane/hectic, and I usually end up controlling them just to get out of whatever situation I'm in. Heh. But yeah, I love to just wander around and test my dream senses. But, to answer your questions:

      1. Does anyone do this on a regular basis?
      Sure. Plenty of us do.

      2. Is there a name for it?
"Lucid Dreaming" would be the most basic name for it. "Oneirology" would probably be more fitting for those that take a more structured, scientific approach to it.

      3. Does doing this make dreams last longer? ( It does for me because I am not activating my mind as much but not sure if it's only me )
Surprisingly, no. I may stay lucid longer, if there isn't something intense going on for me to get completely drawn into. But, usually, if there is nothing exciting going on, I start anticipating waking up, and I usually do shortly afterward.

      4. Are they more vivid dreams?
Sometimes. Depends on a lot of different things. I don't think there is too much of an intrinsic difference between "controlling" a dream and just "exploring" a dream, in terms of vividness.

5.Do you enjoy seeing the creativity of the mind at work?
Absolutely. It fascinates me to no end.
