@ People Who explore dreams while lucid.

Sorry if this was posted, I did try the search but nothing showed up.

People who just explore rather then take control and have what we want, with the exception of flying or other means of travel.

      1. Does anyone do this on a regular basis?
      2. Is there a name for it?
      3. Does doing this make dreams last longer? ( It does for me because I am not activating my mind as much but not sure if it's only me )
      4. Are they more vivid dreams?
5.Do you enjoy seeing the creativity of the mind at work?

Last night I had a dream I was on a harbor and took a boat into a forest. When I got off the boat I became lucid and just started exploring, rather then changing the dream scene and risk waking up. It was awesome. I also had a dream I was exploring my neighborhood. It's surprising on how much can change.

I do this all the time. I try to keep a curious attitude, exploring while expecting amazing things to happen. I had a dream like this last week that I posted in my dream journal, here:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...059#post997059

It does not make for an exciting read, but the experience was really fun.

Yeah i did this twice, one time i was in some neighborhood and went into a random house, and there were these two kids. Then a few minutes later the dream ended. Then more recently, i was on some street that didn't exist in real life, and i just started walking down the street and observing the dcs. There was this homeless man on a bench, and a bunch of other people walking so i just walked and looked around. There was also stores or buildings or something. But this is an interesting idea you brough out, i have to try this more often.

      1. there's a lot of us who take this approach. for me personally, dream control lost its appeal years ago. much more rewarding is meeting the dream and seeing what "comes up" spontaneously - the adventures, self-knowledge, and wisdom is a million times greater than any dream i could consciously create.

      2. lucid dreaming is the catch all. some use the term "conscious dreaming" to differentiate from the control-dreamers. the TM (transcendental meditation) dreamers call it "witnessing." the tibetan buddhists call it "dreaming clear." also a big part of Navajo vision questing.

      3. can go either way. the danger is you can lose that critical eye and become re-absorbed in the drama. but long time meditators have lucid dreams that last the entire REM session, 40 minutes and longer.

      4. big yes on vivid. when you let go of control, there is a chance the dream will enter into the archetypal or "big dream" patterns, which are fascinating and run the gamut from hallucinogenic-imagery to meetings to meetings with other seemingly sentient dream figures (who laugh at attempts to control them) to spontaneous voyages to worlds best described in the historical religious literature (vision quests, tours of multi-level heavens and hells, etc).

      5. for me the creativity of the mind is just the beginning. lucid dreaming opens us up to the creativity to something bigger - the universe, the Mind, who can say. personal beliefs really play a role here in the limits of knowledge.

Exploring is usually my favorite thing to do in dreams. Reading my journal, it may seem a bit contradictory, but that's only because so much of my regular dream content is insane/hectic, and I usually end up controlling them just to get out of whatever situation I'm in. Heh. But yeah, I love to just wander around and test my dream senses. But, to answer your questions:

      1. Does anyone do this on a regular basis?
      Sure. Plenty of us do.

      2. Is there a name for it?
"Lucid Dreaming" would be the most basic name for it. "Oneirology" would probably be more fitting for those that take a more structured, scientific approach to it.

      3. Does doing this make dreams last longer? ( It does for me because I am not activating my mind as much but not sure if it's only me )
Surprisingly, no. I may stay lucid longer, if there isn't something intense going on for me to get completely drawn into. But, usually, if there is nothing exciting going on, I start anticipating waking up, and I usually do shortly afterward.

      4. Are they more vivid dreams?
Sometimes. Depends on a lot of different things. I don't think there is too much of an intrinsic difference between "controlling" a dream and just "exploring" a dream, in terms of vividness.

5.Do you enjoy seeing the creativity of the mind at work?
Absolutely. It fascinates me to no end.

People who explore dreams out of curiosity are Oneiranauts and those who do it to take control are Dreamhackers....

      1. Does anyone do this on a regular basis?
Yes, traveling on the labeled "DW" is what I do mostly, with all the superpower things it gets funny.
      2. Is there a name for it?
Who knows... but the point is to do it, right?
      3. Does doing this make dreams last longer?
Not really, I find both FA and DW dreams last the same, just different plot lol
      4. Are they more vivid dreams?
      See Question #3.
5.Do you enjoy seeing the creativity of the mind at work?
Yes, tough I'm not that bond to "staring" at inanimate objects, prefer the plot part.

lol My little brother says that he does this all the time XD
I don't lucid dream often so I try to make more use of my lucidity (I dream enough fantastic dreams when I'm not lucid XD) Although I might try exploring to stabilizing the dream

Although the creativity of my mind amazes me sometimes - Especially the way my dreams reflect the world around me - some of it is from how I thought about everything in kindergarden and some things have been added to this 'Dreamworld' only recently.

      1. the moment I know I'm dreaming I want to do nothing other than explore the dream world. Its gotten to the point where I cant sit still - I have to keep moving. its become a game - keep flying till I cant fly no more
      2. I call it passive lucid dreaming
      3. yes, yes, yes. I dont know why.
      4. for me yes, and more stable, solid even
      5. sometimes yes, sometimes no

Ive stopped trying to do the monthly goals on this forum because every time I tried them, something in the dream environment distracted me. Like one time the lucid dream task was to transform into something - and before I transformed I noticed fresh fallen snow. Excited I stopped the task and flew over to the snow. Then I noticed a forest, then a river and so on and so on and so on. So usually the dream world excites me more than 'doing' something. But thats when dreaming

When I wake up the story is different! Im kicking myself for all the cool opportunities I missed. Like, why did I fly over the ocean instead of transforming into a dolphin!

but I have found when I do take a more aggressive approach to dreaming, the dream doesn't last as long
