I am going to answer the question you pose in your sig. So everything I am about to say is in reference to that.
1) What most people describe as "me" or conscious thought is nothing more than the byproduct of the brain processing information. It's an illusionary simulation, and a bad one at that considering it lags 0.5 seconds behind reality. (The amount of time it takes your brain to create a conscious thought)
2) The amount of information exposed in your conscious thought is rediculously small compared to the total processing power available to your brain. Depending on the source you quote (these are educated estimates after all, and will vary by individual) conscious attention is somewhere around 16 to 50 bits/ second for some activity, such as reading dream views (depending on which argument you like). Now compare this to the awe of (more varying estimates) 10,000,000 bits/s for eyes, 100,000 for ears, 1,000,000 for skin, 1,000 for taste and 100,000 for smell.
Saying you are able to tell that something is "real" when what it is to "you" is nothing more than a generated illusion from a 1/2 second ago is rediculous enough. But to insist it is accurate, verifiable and relatable to others when what you are getting is far less than a miniscule fraction of the real "reality", further processed and exformated into another less than miniscule fraction of presented information to your conscious thought is sheer stupidity and arrogance.
