I know but wouldn't the dream follow the same continuous storyline. YOu get out of the Vault (whatever it is), kill zombies, go back to the vault, come back out, kill more zombies, kill more zombies, go back to the vault.

I'm sure its pretty cool killing a zombie but I'd get bored doing it. I think that the other type of RPG be better since it has lots more diversity. You never know which kind of person you'll meet and besides, these one too can include the need to kill a zombie or anything else between a small gnome to a gigantic dragon.

pojmaster, for the map, do we need to do one or could we just give a descripton of in which sort of place we are and then start. Once we start, we visit the place and draw a map and show it to everyone else. Everyone can add to the map. OR do you want to start with a map of the towns, mountains, bodies of water, forests, etc...?

The original idea sounds an awful lot like Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

Anyways, reading through this thread has gave me a good idea for myself.
I like the idea of hunting for animals and monsters.
Maybe my own lucid RPG is to get dumped into a forest where these monsters live and I have to catch them.
When I wake up I will draw what I killed as a monument.

Sorry. My last post wasn't reffering to my idea of an RPG set in a Fallout-esque universe. It was just about the idea of an RPG in general.

Although, Fallout isn't just come out of vault, kill zombie. Come out of vault, kill zombie. Come out of vault, kill zombie. Do you even know what it's about. To be honest, I get a bit bored of all of these crappy fantasy RPGs, with the same repetetive crap ie. goblins, spells, swords etc. But it seems I am out-voted.

I suppose the best way to come up with a world for a dream-RPG would be to let one's dreaming mind generate it. So, when I get the time, I'll summon a portal to a location miles above the world (enough to get a large enough view for a satellite map). It would be pretty fun to start exploring and learn what kind of people live there, what's happening, etc.

So pretty much we don't know anything except the general kind of world it would be.

EDIT: Hey, might as well just make a portal to a random place in the world. They could have maps. Dunno how I'd make enough money to buy one though (without "cheating").

I can imagine one member hears about a war that's going on in the world, but doesn't pay much attention to it, then posts the entire dream in this thread (or another thread about this if it ever comes to that), then another member goes into a dream and asks a DC about it, who then explains about it in more detail.

I thought the idea was that the world was supposed to be universal to everyone involved. Obviously, it won't be the same for all of us, but I thought the idea was to come up with a general idea for us to follow, and then our own individual imaginations can fill in the gaps.

That's sort of what it is, but it would be more of a community thing if what was true/revealed in one person's dream could affect another's.

      Oh ok.

So are we going to decide or makeup a setting?

I was thinking along the lines of, we try to explore it in our dreams, then make a combination of everyone's ideas

Either way, this thing is going to need a lot more consideration/development before we can do anything
