Question Is this kind of dreaming possible?

Every so often when I awaken from a dream, I feel the need to go back to that dream because I enjoyed it. I dont know if Im crazy or what, but sometimes If I try hard enough I can fall back asleep and continue that dream to the exact moment I left it. I noticed that this works alot when I am awaken by an outside force like a person or an alarm clock, not due to natural reasons. It almost seems like I was supposed to finish the dream, thats why I could fall back asleep so easily and continue that dream.
Right off the bat, i realize most of you are thinking this is impossible because I would have to go through all the stages of sleep first before I started dreaming again. I think maybe my mind is tricking me into thinking that I re-entered the dream right away because I simple excitedly asked my brain to. Also it seems impossible to be able to continue a dream after already waking up. Keep it mind that I must have some lucidity going on, because if i didnt, then I would never remember that I had ever been to that same dream before. I know this must sound very confusing. I have had many lucid dreams in the past, so I understand what goes on during normal ones. I would just like to know if what I have experienced is legit or just a part of my imagination.

I've definitely had times where I'll start a dream the same place I left it. Usually this simply happens for me. I would suggest working on your visualization. Also, it seems it would depend on how much time had elapsed since you had left that dream.

I have one dream that has reoccured for the past year every once in a while. It's definitely possible, in my opinion.

Yeah it's definitely possible. I've done it myself and a lot of people I've spoken to have done this too

Yh everybody does that. Don't worry it's completely natural, even when I am not lucid I return to the same moment in my last dream and just continueing what I was doing, not registering that I had been awake.

Probably because the person or alarm clock woke you up in the middle of an REM period, which you were able to resume, whereas we tend to naturally awaken at the end of an REM period.

By the way, if you do this without losing awareness, it's called a DEILD

It /is/ possible, as others have already attested. As you said yourself, because you were interrupted during REM, as opposed to waking naturally, you can skip going through the stages of sleep again.
