Would you say lucid dreaming is better than video games?

Lucid dreaming is amazing. The more I talk about it and improve it, the more exciting and wonderful it gets. Despite my analogy, I find that it is better than any video game. You can do anything with no restrictions except those that you put on yourself. Unlike a video game, you are actually in the environments.

Would you say lucid dreaming is better than video games or any other similar forms of entertainment?

      YES!
I agree, you're not restricted to anything. Only how far you will go with your imagination. Lucid dreaming beats anything anyday.
      I love it.
Video Games, however are fun, but you're not actually playing the character...If you know what I mean?

Indeed. I am really obsessed with LD right now. Luckily I am making sure I don't get an unhealthy obsession.

      Haha,
I know. Sometimes I'll take a break from it, but right now, I'm craving a lucid dream. I have new goals that I want to try out.

Yeah it's better! You're "the player" in LDs and you are free to do absolutely anything. No video game can offer that. Plus, you do it while you sleep, for a video game, you have to "make" time sometimes. Not so much for LDs. Plus, you're satisfied when you get an LD, for video games, you play them whenever and don't have to work for them in the same way, working towards great LDs is a lot more fullfilling.

Totally better. I've had one, and the pure wave of ecstasy that washed over me beat a thousand hours of gaming, hands-down. I can't wait until I get to the point where I'm summoning dragons and wreaking havoc, or flying over Nazi Germany and bombing the bejesus out of them, the buggers!

I have yet to experience a lucid dream however even normal dreams are more fun than video games. So I suppose they're better than playing video games.

Its taken a couple of years but I can usually achieve a lucid dream a week. There is no reason why you won't be able too.
(By the way I never focused on attaining lucidty so you could do much better in that amount of time!)

There's still one thing video games do best, and that is adhering to a fixed set of instructions. Lucid dreams follow few rules in terms of physics, appearance, and behavior. Video games stay consistent because they're made to do something specific.

I see them as restrictions more than anything. Changing appearce, physics, and behavior is fun.

LDs (and regular dreams, actually) are better, IMHO, than video games, although I do like video games (and good movies, books, etc) because they give you insight into someone else's mind and imagination, which in turns gives me more material for my dreams!

It depends, if you're having them often enough, then of course they would be better. But if they're very infrequent, at least you can always play video games.
      The music is always playing...

True. And you know it will be as good as the last time you played it.

Hehe, love the poll so far.

It's way better, since it's pretty much like virtual reality, only better. Like reality, only no (long-term) consequences! xD

I'm sorry but, I don't see the possibility for an argument for "no".

Games are restricted with what you can actually do.
      Games are un-realistic.
      Games cost money.
Games require you to get used to controls.
Games only include 2 senses (in general).
Games have borders, there is only so far you can go.

Dreams are the exact opposite of that.

Very true. Consequences... I need to try and get that into my mind - everytime I commit a crime (in a dream) a police car will appear. I often have to change my appearence to get away which can be hard sometimes. I have been a very logical person all my life, but now I need to release that at night!

Lucid dreams require lots of pratice too. Once you manage to attain one, you have to then gain control of a dream which can be hard at first.

I think LDs are better than any other formof entertainment. hands down. There are limitless possiblities in dreams. The only sad part about LDing, is no one else can experience it with you.

Well, they are working on technology that would allow people to actually tune in and watch your dreams, seeing them as you see them. So maybe in a sense, other people can share the experience in the future.

That would be way awesome! I Think it might get embaressing at times though >.> dont know how often i would use it. I imagine that techonolgy would be great to help people get over nightmares.

And I dont want to turn this into a debate, but personally i dont believe in shared dreaming. I beleive dreaming takes place in your head, and no one elses. haha
