      A Collision of Worlds

My real world is colliding with the dream world. Things that I've done in dreams long ago I start to remember them as things that have happened in real life. I asked my friend if he remembered a certain party we had gone to. He said that what I was talking about never happened. I said maybe it was my dream. After a review of my dream journal I realized he was right. This isn't the first time that has happened. Now I can't trust my memory.

Something like this happened to me in elementary school. I had a dream I got in trouble and the principal gave me a "pink slip." The next morning I couldn't remember if it was a dream or if it was real, I eventually had to ask the principal herself if I had detention or not.

Nothing really significant has happened to me since then though, other than minor flukes.

heh, that's quite unfortunate, it's amazing how the lines between reality and dreams can be so thin...

yeah sometimes the line is surprisingly thin. Sometimes I feel like we should be able to learn something from our dreams other than just how our brain works. like maybe our sub-conscience picks up on something we all miss

this used to happen to me but only for very minor things and I could always tell after some thinking if it was real or not.

try reading your DJ only during the night or indeed in waking periods in between sleep, if that doesn't help and you feel it's becoming a real problem use common sense and perhaps take a break for a while

That happens to me too. I once had a dream where I was fighting with one of my friends at school, and I was avoiding them the next day. They were like, "are you okay?"
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

TimmyTank, I have experienced exactly what it is you are referring to. I have a hard time discerning dream experiences from waking experiences as well. Because of this, I began to question: Am I believing/creating false memories?

      A scary thought? At first.

I have done a lot of thinking about this because I wasn't sure if whether or not what I was (am) experiencing is going to have detrimental effects to my "sanity" and end me in the nut house - thinking I'm dreaming all the time and sometimes confusing my dreams with reality.

I realized however, through some strange spiritual epiphany, that life is simply experience. Life is simply about experiencing as much as one can - to finally understand...what one must understand - to become their "whole self". Whether or not what you experienced was a dream or reality, the constant is that you experienced. Experience shapes our minds, our personalities and it uncovers our souls.

I'm not sure if this is of any pertinence to what you are looking for in an answer.

The best suggestion given so far was by Ethereal. Who recommended to GET FAMILIAR WITH YOUR DREAM JOURNAL. - if you want to tell the difference.

For me, I am happy not telling the difference. I want my world to merge with the spiritual world. The more experiences the better. It gets me that much closer to the "truth" I so avidly seek.

Sounds like the movie "the science of sleep" sounds like a doco but its definitely arthouse. Im sure its been mentioned on DV before so i wont go into it. French / english so might be hard to find in the video store.

      All the best,

That actually happened to me during summer holidays.

I was avidly Lucid Dreaming and writing all my dreams on DJ. When i was talking to somebody about a place where my grandparent's house is i had a strange idea of another friend living in that zone. I didn't tell that to the person i was talking to but I remembered that friend having told me that he lived there but, for some reason, i had the sensation, from the moment that memory came to my mind, it was just a dream memory.
I haven't tried to clarify if he actually lives there and i just got confused.

Anyway that never happened to me again when i stopped LD so much. Lately i can't even force myself to write the dreams down =S so i haven't had many LDs.

      Just some questions:

How long have you been Lucid Dreaming?

Do you usually write all the dreams down on DJ?

-If you stop LDing and writing the dreams give us some feedback on the results please.-

Ah, and btw, what is the time that has passed since you had that dreams and until you remember the same dreams again as a normal memory? Check the date on DJ and give some feedback

Do you feel that your normal memories are enhanced as well? Can you reremember stuff that has happened in real life a long time ago better as well?

Thanks. Please satisfy my curiosity xD.
