      Scary!

      Forgive, I'm new at this.

Here goes nothin'. So, my boyfriend was sleeping next to me last night. He was left this morning to go back to his house which happens to be 280 miles away. =/ I think the anxiety from anticipating the separation triggered this particular dream to be unsettling. Not to mention I felt pretty sick to my stomach when I laid down. I had drank like 12 beers over the course of the day (not a normal thing for me, don't worry).

There is a car sitting outside of my house at night with a man and a woman in it. There is old fashioned music in the background. They are arguing about something. I don't recall where I was but I could view them and also not view them if I chose. Everytime they came into view, the woman was replaced with a man and then replaced with another woman. The man stayed the same. I remember saying to Jacob(my boyfriend) "that is so strange that the woman changes shape, usually the man would. This is a very weird movie". He agreed.

I had a false awakening and me and my boyfriend were laying in bed. I know this was a FA because I was still talking about the movie. I kept telling him how weird it was and he kept saying things like "I told you so". Then I "fell back asleep".

At this point, I woke in RL. I looked over to Jacob and then soon realized it was becoming harder and harder to move. I was experiencing SP. This was extremely frustrating because my neck was not positioned in a comfortable place and I kept desperately trying to blink my eyes and move my toes to wake myself up out of this paralysis. This was terrifying to me, although I've experienced this before.

I was convinced I had truly woken from sleep paralysis but it seems I inadvertently DIELD because I must have been extremely tired. I looked to my right and saw that Jacob had his clothes on and he was laughing and happy. I was really confused at this so I immediately realized this was a dream and I was not fooled any longer. DC Jacob said "come here baby, kiss me!" I said to him "no you are an imposter", he said "Why?". At that point I opened my blinds and pointed down stairs outside and said "because you are an imposter, there you are right there!" A second DC Jacob wearing the same clothes was standing below my window. I turned around to see what the first DC Jacob was doing and it was a short, older, mafia looking man and he was trying to punch me in the face. I dove out of my window head first, in attempts to *kill myself awake*. I ended up in my room again. Then I jumped out again. This happened like 5 times. I couldn't remember how to wake up because it has been so long since I had a nightmare. These efforts only made the craziness worse. I shot down a green tunnel and on my way down I passed different levels of hell, factories, aliens, all very fast as I was falling downward. When I finally landed I was in a colorful small room that reminded me of a circus. There were many little kids in the room at first I thought, "how cute" until I remembered it was a dream and I started flailing my fists at the kids because I was convinced they were all in on the plan to add to my nightmare. I punched one little boy so hard he bled and that image is still stuck with me. I remember feeling so terrible it made me then feel like I just wanted to fight anyone and everyone I could see. I jumped down what seemed to be like a laundry chute and I landed softly in a decent sized room with a few familiar faces and some others that I certainly did not know. I asked the DC Ms. Bev who was my old boss, "how are you supposed to die in a dream, I'm trying to get out of this?" She laughed and said, "YOU CANT" you just have to deal with it. But she was very nice about it. I had what seemed to be a never ending bag of orange skittles and I offered them to the other people in the room. I was particularly generous to this one black lady who took like 2 handfulls of skittles. I flinched when she stuck her hand out because I thought she might hit me. She said "what, did you think I was gonna hit you? Your trying to die, right, not get hurt, right?" I just laughed and walked away. As soon as I did, she swung her hand at me and missed. I was covering my nose so she wouldn't break my nose but the wind from the miss slapped me and I felt pain. Looking back, this part was very funny -- she walked around the room and told everyone in the room to listen up. She had a tape player and told everyone "we are about to do the Cha-Cha slide". Losing hope in waking up I decided to make the best of this and I cheered. Some bold girl in the crowd raised her hand and said "well, we all decided we wanted to wrestle". The black girl was like "no we are doing this". The girl in the crowd said "fine, if I answer a question right we can wrestle, right?"

Finally, I woke up and I was so startled by this frustrating dream that I woke Jacob up at 4 in the AM and he stayed up with me until he left. I am still awake now and I am actually afraid to go back to sleep.

How do I stop from having dreams like this!?

Heavens, what a wall of text! Well, this is what lucid dreaming is for. It helps you to take command of your dreams so you can avoid certain circumstances. Hey, you already have a great dream sign, it looks like.

What do you think my "dream sign" is? Forgive me, I don't even know what that means.

It means a recurring element in your dream. In real life if you do a reality check when you see your dream sign you will also do this in your dream, causing lucidity.

Edit: like say your sign is seeing identical twins, if you see any then there's a good chance you are dreaming and you would do a reality check
