I can only wake myself up from sleep while dreaming. I cant explain how, but there is another way to do it if you can become lucid. You have to purposly jump off of a realy high place and then let the dream take over. Whenever i have done this i get a realy tingly fealing in my legs.

i would always be able to will myself awake if i wanted to...but nowadays usually i just go with the dream...its weird, when i was little, id do this thing, where i'd decide what i wanted to dream about (for instance, one night, i really missed my sister who had moved away, and i wanted to see her in my dream) and i'd just have a dream all about her. the dream wasn't in my control though...anyways i kept doing this thing, and like eventually it got to the point where as soon as i entered a dream, id be conscious enough [lucid, basically] to decide if i wanted to continue with the dream or not. (back then, i didn't know anything about lucidity, or controlling dreams) one time i remember, it started off really gloomy so i woke up, and went back to sleep again to get a better dream, so i slipped into another dream, which i decided was going to be an okay one, so i continued with that. i guess this is just a description of how an elememtary school kid would describe lucidity. anyways, this kept on happening for a longggg time, until i got to like, middle school i think. that's a whole different story..starting from my middle school years...i ve been having a whole bunch of these weird premonition dreams...i think ill put up a post about them later.

I tend to be able to wake myself from dreams when they start getting 'nasty' or uncomfortable by thinking (or maybe saying outloud) ""1..2..3 wake up".

Thinking about it, it is usually at this point that I become lucid in dreams, so maybe rather than waking myself up, I could continue with the dream.

This reality is like a goldfish bowl. The dreamworld is the same, but larger. It's easy to get lost.

I use the 'squeeze eyes shut' technique to escape in past dreams. I've found it only works when you can get 'snowy-vision' - the first time in the night you do it. The chance of failure increases the more you attempt it. Otherwise your eyes are only closed in your dream and what happens still goes on.

...to wake up i usually remind myself of something that desperately needs to get done soon (i always procrastinate), which makes me get worried im gonna oversleep, and that makes me wake up everytime lol

i used to be able to wake my self up purposely

i used to be able to do this, but i have no need to now because of lucid dreaming but i discovered different states that i could awake myself to.
It all started when i was in about a 20 feet deep pool, and i was in it, and does anyone know that black whale thing from Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back? its when Luke crashlands in the swamp on Degobah and you see a black whale thing swim by and swallow R2D2.
Well anyway there were those scary things in the pool too, and they were swimming after me, so i swam down to the bottom of the pool. instead of it being darker it was white-ish and then i realized, "what if i could wake myself up?" so i tried and then where i appeared didnt make sense.
I appeared to what was whiteness. total whiteness, the ground, air, sky, everything. and i later discovered that i could wake myself up "halfway" instead of "all the way" waking up. Then i had bad dreams and i didnt want to stay "in" them so i woke myself up completely. i could then wake my self up by will. All i had to do was to "force" the dream scenery away and , well , wake my self up. But if i had thought about visualizing myself in my room waking up, i would have reentered my nightmare, except it would start over at my house lol.
