      Scary sleep paralysis feeling

I seem to get the strangest scariest feeling right before my body goes into sleep paralysis.

      Theres two things I feel.

      1. It's hard to describe but it's like I'm an minute spec inside a HUGE body. The size of a pea you could say. For example...it would be the same as if a ant walked into a human house and had the realization in the size difference. Its a very uneasy and unique sensation. I believe it must be maybe my soul?...inside this physical body that it uses for transportation?

Any one have this sensation before SP?

      and #2...

I call it the boogie man sensation. I usually fall asleep on my left or right side. Most the time when I feel the onset of SP its while laying on my side. I have my eyes closed and can feel the usual tingling sensations/vibrations/falling etc...but theres something else that occurs on occastion as well..
I feel like at any moment...a scary monster type creature is going to be appearing in front of my closed eyes. And if I open them...he'll see me and possibly hurt me. So I keep my eyes closed and fight the urge to open em.

It doesn't happen that much but at least once every 2 or so months. It reminds me of being afraid as a child after watching a scary horror movie like Nightmare on elm street...childs play etc...and trying to sleep

      Any ideas ?

Wow, that's pretty scary. I've never had that experience but my entrance into SP is always dramatic. It starts with a small buzzing in my head that gets VERY loud followed by intense vibrations. I've often described the vibrations as feeling like someone is running a lawn owner over my body, back and forth.

      Then, PLOP, I'm WILDing.

Do you sleep next to someone? If so, do you think the scary feeling is associated with hiding something?

Well, for the boogie-man feeling, I get that too sometimes. I heard that it's a small gland in your brain that controls fear and unease, like the flight-or-fight response. During SP it kicks up a few notches to create that fear. Maybe that'll help you relax. =3
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I get both of those feelings, mostly the first one. In fact, sometimes I get the first feeling without going into SP or without even going to sleep. I could just be sitting around, lounging with my eyes closed, and I feel as though I'm a spec of dust in a vast universe, or my head is the size of an elephant while my body is like an ant, or I'm infinitely huge while everything around me is infinitely small. It fluctuates a lot.

thanks for your responses. to answer you question jstersd...I do have my girlfriend over from time to time but it never happens when shes laying next to me.

Thanks moose for your reply...that makes sense. It's funny...even though I'm still awake when it happens and I know nothing can hurt me...it still scares me to wits everytime it happens. Its almost enough to make me just want to quit and break the SP.

      Thanks again!
