Thread: Is it easy to remember lucid dreams?

I always forget my dreams. So I just realized, what's the point in having a lucid dream if I won't even remember it? This has made me sort of depressed, ha.

Easier, but you should still train your dream recall.

I find that lucid dreams are easier to remember because they usually happen for me just before I get up in the morning. Also, many lucid dreams end in an awakening which makes them fresh in your concious mind.

Please keep a dream journal, this helps in two ways.

1. It improves your recall,
2. With just a few hints from your journal, you will be suprised at how well you can bring to recall dreams that happened months or years ago.

I think lucid dreams are as hard to remember as regular dreams. The difference is that lucid dreams tend to be more meaningful, and thus you'll remember them just like you would remember a meaningful dream. To me, remembering a bland/boring lucid is just as hard as remembering a regular dream.

Recall is directly affected by the dream's vividness, and you can increase vividness in a lucid dream.

Also, let's not forget the fact that you can wake up at will in a lucid dream, which makes it nearly impossible to forget.

Well find it easier to remember a Lucid Dream than a normal dream. I think it is because I am more aware when I initially wake up.

I just had one last night, but I couldn't remember much. It was just like a normal dream. Its better to work on the dream recall first IMO.

Yes, especially If you're lucid at the moment of awakening. You'll feel the process start, and be conscious the whole way though, as the scene moves from vivid realness, to less vivid, darker, etc. Then you end up awake, having no (or very little) discontinuity in your awareness, so at least the last scene should still be crystal clear in memory. That's been my experience anyway.

Also, when lucid, you have the unique opportunity to deliberately, purposefully, commit what you're seeing to memory. At minimum, pay more careful attention to things. I intuitively find myself doing this, making the dreams more memorable with little effort. You could even employ mnemonic techniques during the dream.

For me LD tend to be more vivid and exciting so I usualy recall them better than ordinary dreams, and I think another reason for this is that we usually remember things better if they are important to us.
I wouldn't worry about it in your place.

Personally my Lucid's have been EXTREMELY easy to recall, I remember almost every detail.
