So, when I went to see it, I was pleasantly surprised how it teaches us all about dreams. So many parallels, and lessons:
REM: The Dreamwalkers (as they are called, only once) go into REM when they "drive" the Avatar bodies.
Dream Journal: Jake is forced to keep a video dream journal.
Dream Body: The Avatar bodies are dream bodies. Lame people can walk in dreams.
Wormhole: Every time the Dreamwalkers enter the Avatar body, they go through a wormhole.
Reality of the Dream Plane: They accept the reality of the Avatar bodies (dream bodies) and Pandora (Dream Plane) as a real place.
Reality of other entities: They accept the reality of other non-human entities.
Reality of shared dreaming: They accept the reality of being in avatar bodies with other dreamers.
Getting obsessed with the dream plane: Jake gets so obsessed, he wants to be in the Avatar body all the time.
Telepathy: Telepathy on the Dream Plane is much easier than the physical.
Affecting the physical: The Dreamwalkers accept that they can affect the physical plane from the dream plane.
Opening your heart: Jake heart becomes open the more he dreams, and the more beauty he experiences.
Increasing in skill: Jake learns better avatar (dream body) control.
Dream colors: Jake sees a lot of dream colors, with the glowing stuff.
Spirit: Jake experiences all kinds of spirits.
This is doing a lot to raise the awareness of the Dream Plane to people. I am excited about what this movie is doing to raise the consciousness of the planet to the reality of the dream plane, like Philadelphia did to raise the awareness of the idea that gay people are just people like you and me.
