      Lucid dreaming and not trying

      Hi everyone-

I'm not positive if I am lucid dreaming but I am certainly not trying to. For a few years now I "dream" that I am sleeping in my bed. It's usually from my POV as If I'm asleep with my eyes open but know i'm asleep and I become frantic and begin trying desperatly to wake myself up. Kinda scary.

Is this lucid dreaming? I don't like it but I suppose if I knew for sure what it is maybe I can turn it into something fun.

      Thank you

      Jessica

This is when you say "Oh shit, I'm dreaming!" and wake yourself up.

Take advantage of it next time. If you realize you're dreaming, try to roll out of bed. Spin around thinking of where you want to go. Worked for me my first time. Do whatever you want, it's a dream!

If at any point in the dream you knew you were dreaming, you were lucid.

Well it seems a lot like sleep paralysis and it is very scary. I can see my surroundings but can't move and thats when I panic. That video had some alien abduction stuff too but I don't think thats the case....

Things like that video are why people are scared by the thought of SP. The last two minutes kind of turn it around though.

If you're in a dream, and you realize it's a dream, that's lucid dreaming.

Usually, it's just like any ordinary dream, you're doing normal dream stuff, and then it hits you that it's a dream. And when this happens, the last thing you want to do is wake up. Because you know it's a dream, you know you can do whatever you want, or at least try to. There is an overwhelming sense of freedom.

Yeah, I can see where it's a little scary, but I think it would be a huge relief to anybody who's had SP and didn't know what it was. They tend to think they'
re dying or being kidnapped into another worlds or something. And of course a lot of them think they're being abducted by aliens! A lot better to realize it's just a normal part of the REM cycle and sometimes you're awake for it.

So, apparently the terror and vibrations don't happen all the time in SP? I had something happen when I was a kid that I'm pretty sure was SP but no terror or vibrations... just a weird hallucination taking place in my room as if I was awake.
