Yup, the first few lucids usually suck, though not always (seems to be holding more or less true for me, though). Clairity, duration, and control all increase with experience, and after the initial "learning" period, they start to get really great.

I'm glad you were able to experience a good high level lucid dream. To be aware that you are dreaming is cool enough, but the higher up on the lucid dreaming scale you are, the better the feeling is. If high enough, it's almost as if you are awake, but you can do anything you want and more.

I don't really get why lucid dreaming is so unheard of. I'm just glad that atleast we know what can come out of it. We know what it's like, and we have the skill to experience things such as flying. Sucks for everyone else who don't know about it or refuse to even try.

I've never questioned why it is so great. I googled "dream control" to see if it was even possible to do so, then I came across this site. I was really excited to experience lucid dreaming and being able to share it in a community like dreamviews. I then had my first lucid dream, and I was hooked, especially since it was a pretty good one.
