      Whats Your Sleeping Style?

I thought this would be pretty interesting for everyone here.
I fall into the 8th percentile for sleeping like a Soldier. Whats your sleeping style?
      Enjoy!

The Foetus(41%): Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax.
This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.

The Log (15%): Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.

The yearner (13%): People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.

Soldier (8%): Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don't like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards.

Freefall (7%): Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don't like criticism, or extreme situations.

Starfish (5%): Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don't like to be the centre of attention.
The remainder of those in the poll said the position they fell asleep varied or did not know.

      Health effect

Professor Idzikowski also examined the effect of various sleeping positions on health.

He concluded that the freefall position was good for digestion, while the starfish and soldier positions were more likely to lead to snoring and a bad night's sleep.

Professor Idzikowski said: "Lying down flat means that stomach contents can more readily be worked back up into the mouth, while those who lie on their back may end up snoring and breathing less well during the night.

"Both these postures may not necessarily awaken the sleeper but could cause a less refreshing night's sleep."

The research also found that most people are unlikely to change their sleeping position. Just 5% said they sleep in a different position every night.

I switch positions each night, but i'd have to say that soldier is most common. I've done all of them except the yearner.

I have heard that too and I think that it is easier on your back and it creates less stress on it to sleep on your back. I have tried not to do free faller, but I do it periodically. You aren't in too much trouble. It doesn't affect you too much.

I'm none of the above. I sort of adopted my own style somehow, because it seemed the most comfortable and secure. I sleep on my side, but instead of having my legs together, my top leg comes over the other and my knee comes up a little, and then my front hand comes up underneath the edge of my pillow for support so that it doesn't tickle my face, and my bottom arm is wrapped underneath my body. And then I put a pillow on top of my head, so that there is just a crack between both pillows. Then I go to sleep.

It's kind of a mix of fetus and freefall, but not very close to either. It's more on my side than on my stomach, except that my body rolls toward my stomach a little from my top leg coming over.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.

I sleep in the freefaller position having the arm that's in front of my face around the pillow but my other arm is at my side. I'll switch back and forth meaning I'll move my head so I'm looking right with my left arm at my side and if it takes too long to fall to sleep I'll move back so my head is facing left and my right arm is at my side. I know sleeping like this makes my neck really tense but I've tried to sleep in the soldier position and my body feels like it starts to hurt and it's just not comfortable.
I didn't realize how few people sleep like this and I thought that this and the soldier position was the most popular though I've never looked it up before. I didn't even realize how many people sleep in the fetal position.
I wonder if there is a name for the excact postion that I sleep in since both my arms aren't around the pillow?

      Thanks for the info Shadow

Gosh! I must go through all those positions at least one point every night. But I think for the most part I'm a mix between Foetus, Yearner, and Freefaller all at the same time, I know it's hard to picture it, but it's true..

      EDIT: oh yeah...sans clothing

i go to sleep as Freefall, but wake up as a soldier.
And yes, i am gregarious and brash, i'm not always keen on criticism, but who is?
And i hate extreme situations that i don't understand...

Somewhere between Foetus, Yearner, and Freefaller. I usually sleep on my side with knees about half as bent as Foetus (sometimes only with one leg) usu. one arm bent under the pill and one hanging over my stomach or over my chest touching my other elbow. If I'm on my stomach it's usually one arm under my head/pillow the other to my side or some how clung to my other arm and one leg straight the other bent. I also toss and turn a lot. Can't sleep on my back. I wish I could I find I have the most vivid dreams sleeping on my back.

I'm another one that varies between most of those positions, but I'd have to say that freefaller is the most common for me. I don't think the description fits me at all, though.

I am pretty close to a soldier, but I tend to put my arm around my cat, too!

      fetous postion for me
It is a reality that even the closest people, husband and wife, will dream different dreams. That means, people are never alike in their minds. The connotation is that you got to be wary of even the people you trust the most

I go to sleep in the soldier position, or the starfish if I am trying WILD (always unsuccessfully ). This seems to give me the best circulation. However, during slow wave sleep I go into yearner position and always wake up with my bottom arm tingling.

Either soldier, or I sleep on my side, but with both arms on the side pointed towards the air.
