lucid dreaming affects in real life?

i've been trying to lucid dream for a while (haven't done it yet) and my parents think that if i try something dangerous in my dream that i will carry out that act in real life(like trying to fly and i actually try to fly in real life)
      Is this possible?

Yeah... that's completely false. You never hear about anyone who gets themselves hurt because of something that happened in their dreams. You'll find that a lot of us here fly on purpose, jump off buildings, get in shoot-outs, ect.

You should ask your parents if they have some kind reference to support their little belief because it just sounds absurd to me and probably most of us here.

BUT!!! What if you think that real life is a lucid dream! Then WHAT?!?? YOU are going to rob a bank or something or break stuff and try and fly and kill yourself! STAY AWAY FROM LUCID DREAMS AND THEIR OCCULTIC NATURE! THAT is what SATAN wants you to do! He wants you to think that real life is a dream and go crazy and kill yourself! STAY AWAY...

      ...or...

You could do a reality check and realize it's real life...

      ...or...

You can tell your parents your not a complete idiot...

Trust me.. you won't. When we go to sleep we go into something called Sleep paralysis, it is were our brains Paralyze our bodies so we don't act out what we are doing in our dream and seriously hurt ourselves.

You can read all about Sleep Paralysis [ Here! ]

      Hope this helps.

The only effects i can say are that you may soil yourself in your sleep for various reasons.

      This.

      Agreed 100%.

Sounds like your parents are trying to find a reason for you NOT to LD. Many parents of DV members DO think it's weird, trust me...my parents included . Trust me, if you REALLY think it is a LD, it is. I've had dozens of lucids, and not once in real life did I think it a LD. If you think it's a dream, if you REALLY think it's a dream, not honestly questioning yourself through an RC, then IT IS a dream. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT.

Oh, and what did you/are you going to tell your parents exactly...?
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

The only negative aspect of my life that I can attribute to lucid dreaming is that I will sometimes forget if certain trivial events occurred in my waking life or in a dream. For example, I'll think I have mozzarella cheese in my fridge because I remember seeing it, but when I go to check I realize that it was in a dream that I saw the cheese.
      While sleeping, watch.

That all works great until something like this happens...

Yeah, in my opinion the only effect it will have on real life is just making you more aware.

Just a note people before we confuse our terms, that we don't go through sleep paralysis every night. It's called REM Atonia. Sleep paralysis is simply experiencing paralysis and is actually outside REM.

It says right there in the tutorial Dylan provided.
