I used to have tons of nightmares, but now I rarely have one because I become always become lucid during them. It seems that once you start becoming lucid more and more, your mind conditions itself to want to wake itself up during scary moments. Usually, I'll say to myself..."This is a nightmare, you better wake yourself up." I then realize what I had just said, and become lucid instead.A great way to become lucid during nightmares, is to RC every time you feel a bit scared in waking life. |

Oh my only lucids in childhood came with nightmares, so I enjoyed nightmares and wanted them to last for longer, funny enough, now I have to induce them to get nightmares <.< |

thank you for you're comments i wanted to learn more about why people are able to lucid dream and i'm sure its been said some where but i haven't come across it yet but i feel that the ability to lucid dream was originally a defense mechanism against nightmares and those that had many nightmares as children seem to be able to lucid dream more often |
