Reality Checks never work for me

The other night i had a dream i was in my living room and my dad comes in the room and sits down. The whole family was in the room so i thought it was weird to hear more footsteps, then i looked in the hallway my dad was there again so there were now two dads in the room. Then it happened again and i had three dads in the room. So I figured OK this is definitely not real and nothing happened. I then proceeded to try to float and that didn't work either, i don't get it?

I've had so many RC's fail me recently, I know how that feels. I always start off with the nose pinch, then I look at my watch and sometimes I try to poke my finger through my hand. I've never had the finger poke to work though.

I think the trick to RCing is you really got to pay attention when you do it plus you got to expect it to work. Try to work on being more aware while doing your RC's in real life from now on and see if that helps. Try not to get frustrated too much, I know its hard not to but try to keep positive. You'll get lucid sooner or later. Good luck!

      Never say never.

Sometimes some things seem too difficult to do in dreams, I tried to make the floor explode, couldn't do it. Floating is quite hard, try flying instead.

Your reality check worked, you realised something was up

EDIT: Dude, was floating your reality check? That's a difficult one. Try the holding your breath method, or carefully looking at your hands.
Sometimes being fully lucid I think I'd struggle to float.

Unless you are already adept at dream control, the best RCs are the simple ones. The only reason some more experienced LDers try to fly as an RC is because it's so second nature that if it fails they must be awake.

Stick with the basic RCs, like the Nose Pinch RC, until you progress enough that you can start to develop your own.

Yeah I can imagine that WOULD be annoying..

I've yet to get my mind to perform a reality check during my dream. And I began with the poking finger through palm RC, but I myself was skeptical and changed it to looking at my watch/time, and reading text. Are there any simpler ones or any that I should begin with?

I do often use the nose pinch RC to lucid dream.
But sometimes i become lucid without even needing to do a RC check.
