Lucid Dream Activator Software - Finished Beta Testers 1.07b

OK so after struggling to get back Lucid I have began writing some software to help that I'll run on my laptop at the side of my bed

The Idea is at set intervals during your strongest REM state sounds or messages ("you are dreaming") are played and the screen is flashed to make you aware that you are dreaming .
if you awake in the night you can hit F1 and after a set interval your actions will be carried out
if you cant get Lucid you can hit F12 and here an entrancing sound with flashing screen to help you (though this may be good for WILD)

any help improving this would be appreciated -
      like
      1) Whats the best sound to induce a trance - hart beat maybe ?
      2) is there enough intervals with 10
      3) what should the default intervals be ( I personally find my best time is just after 5 in the morning)
      4) what other options should the program have

I'll give the software away free once it is up and running , if this post could be made sticky it would help and if maybe someone has a site or even on here somewhere I can upload the program for users to test would be appreciated

      all the best stef

      Got a good wav file
      The Phone Rings
      "Ring Ring -- Ring Ring"
      "Hello"
      "You Are dreaming"
      "You Are dreaming"
      "You Are dreaming"

hopefully you would pick up the phone and here the message

PS. before anyone says it lol yes i know answer the phone is spelt wrong just a typo

Instructions for use are further on in this post .
Request the program in this post if you want to try a copy

Have you investigate any of the theory behind binaural beats and brainwave entrainment? Take a look at BWGEN, maybe you could do something like that.

There are a few topics on the forum about it. Search for BWGEN or "brainwave entrainment" . They might give you some new ideas to try out. Good luck!

      Thanks Seeker
I must admit I have not delved that deep as yet but will do soon - especially when it comes to setting up the trance induction option.
first I just want to see if the idea will work
if anyone has any more input it will be gratefully appreciated

If anyone is interested in this software please let me know now, by posting below and i'll continue to update here on this forum and post the software once finished at the moment it is about 50% complete with just the trance and quickfire options to finish off, otherwise i'll just take it as no one is interested.

I would be interested, but my computer is not in my bedroom, and there's no place in the computer room comfortable enough to sleep.

I would be very interested in trying out the programme once it is finished.

It looks great from the image you posted, good luck in finishing it

i like the idea, ive thought about recording a message that repeatidly says you are dreaming or something like that. my computers across from my bed so the only way i can do it would be my speakers, not really a problem, good luck on the program if u continue it.

      Thanks everyone for responding
I'll continue to update on this post as the program develops

if your PC is across the room from you I would guess the flashing screen would still work well a distance as going from black to white should be enough to light the whole room up also the speakers being far away shouldn't be a problem either just turn up the volume , I may have to use a laptop to keep it as close to me as possible as otherwise my other half may complain at being woke up in the middle of the night Lol!

any input would be appreciated, I personally am looking forward to setting it up and trying the phone ringing "Audio/flash" I'll use the standard nokia ring tone as everyone recognizes this as a phone "Ring Ring"
      "Hello"
      "You are dreaming"
      Lucidity here we come

anyone think of any other good ideas please let me know or if you just interested just post below

hopefully if i get chance i should almost finish the program today well at least to a beta testing stage

      all the best stef

I'd be willing to test that out, I have a computer in my bedroom and in addition to that a laptop i can have right next to me.

If you want I'll be a beta tester.

Thanks everyone for the input the program is about 70% complete now
so should be ready for bete testing very soon

i've modified a few of the options you can see the updated picture at the top of the post
the 6hz trance mode is well enducing i had to kick myself to keep working whilst i was testing it

another thought that has just come to mind you could use the program to wake you up after say 6 hours just before your best REM period then keep you awake by making actions every 10 minutes or so then set the 6hz Binaural Beat to activate to send you in to REM then a few mnutes later "ring ring you are dreaming"

      all the best

Well i've just got the 6hz stuff working and with the screen flashing at 6 times a second and the 6hz Binaural Beat it just knocked my socks of , darnt stay in front of it for to long

now to get the screen to flash 12 times a second so as the white would appear 6 times i have had to use another method of timing the actions therefore this option is to power consuming to use other than for the trance mode . In the future i may ammend the program so as it can be chosen in the actions option lists

Jees is that what you call hypnotic or what

How safe do we think this is ? ? ?

I think i'll have to add some kind of disclaimer to this as i'm no doctor or psychologist

      morning Everyone

what a bummer of a night woke up and couldn't remember a s@dding thing
I can usually remember at least 2 dreams and i have been doing RT checks every day for the last few days now almost 3 to 5 times an hour

so i'll work extra hard today to get the program finished,

I have had a thought of using some bluetooth headphones to sleep in if I can find any small enough as then i could leave my pc on in the other room with the transmitter on the audio out of my PC

      all the best

      Stef

PS all beta testers welcome i'll send it out as soon as it's ready

      Ok everyone it's done

it is definitely a beta version so I cant comment on it's stability

I wanted to just get the thing working to start of with to see if it could perform the desired effect

anyone wanting a copy paste your email below and i'll send you a copy - under the assumption you will return to this post and provide your results

the file is a single setup file of 4.09 mb most of this is the wav's and mp3's
you can add whatever mp3's or wav's you want in to the audio folder and the program will detect them the next time it is started

I suggest that it is used with caution for your sake and that of your pc as I do not know what effect flashing the screen at high speed for long intervals would do to it (if anything)

Please do not post the beta version anywhere on the net , this is only for those who request it - once i'm sure it's stable i'll release a none beta version for full release

      all the best

      Hi everyone

Daniel I have sent a copy to your e-mail address please let me know how you get on and if you have any problems installing or running the program

      Linux mmmmm !

maybe , it's written in VB6 but I believe you can get emulators to run windows programs on Linux though I could be wrong

a little research has found Softworks VBVM a portable version of Microsoft's Visual Basic Virtual Machine (VBVM). Softworks VBVM enables an executable file (.EXE) produced by either VB5 or VB6 to execute on most computing platforms.
though the site that should host it is down at the mo http://www.ceu.fi.udc.es/SAL/F/1/VBVM.html

I have added an option so as the volume can be controlled during each interval
in the hope that say using the phone message, when you hit your best time for REM (mine being around 5.00am) you first get the message quietly then after 10 minutes you get it again louder and so on. When it's that loud it wakes you, you know the best volume to use (the one it's set to just before it wakes you)

As it's a beta and pretty straight forward there is no help file

but here are just a few tips
From the 'Record Play Edit settings' box

choose the audio samples from the list and set up a duration interval for them , repeat every so many seconds bare in mind if your audio is 10 seconds and you ask it to repeat every 5 seconds it will wait until the audio has finished before starting again

the flash every option determines the time interval between the screen going on and off between white and black 1 second = on for 1 second then of for one second and so on this is set for each individual audio selection.

press save after selecting you desired intervals, the audio is not set here it's only for finding the best volume that suits you

Record Play Stop pretty self explanatory - though you will need a Mic and bare in mind it records in Wav Format so keep you recording short (wav takes up a lot of file space) once you have recorded a files just type in a name and press save

The Binaural beat & Theta box
with this option you can set whether or not you have both the screen and the sound on or not and
the duration for how long it is to be run in minutes and seconds
this can be activated by clicking with the mouse or by pressing the enter key - Pressing the Enter key only works whilst the program is running in (Active or Black screen) this is so if you are having trouble getting lucid you can just reach over and hit the enter key

      the Quick Fire Box
if you awake in the middle of the night and did not have time to set any of the other timer options you can just hit this and after the set interval the action will take place

      Activate the main Options

Set the time , the audio the duration etc. choose the options and times that best suit your needs
the default is set best to what would suit me obviously it may well be different for you

you can add your own MP3 , Wav or Mid files by copying them in to the audio folder c:program filesldaaudio presuming you used the default setup directory- you will have to restart the program for it to detect them

PS i used the Space bar and Enter key because there bigger and some laptops require you to hold down a separate key before you can use the F Keys
      [/b]
      all the best

I would luv to think this program at least will help others even if i cant get it to work for myslef (not had chance to try it yet) , I doubt i'll alter the program much form how it is now and get it out of the Beta stages unless it does work for lots of people - So please let me know who you get on with it or any improvements you can think of

One improvement that could be added is a wav file of someone knocking at the door it being answered then a voice saying "you are dreaming"

It's ready to use now if you want a copy , I just cant say how stable it is and how well it will work if at all as i only started writing it on monday

it's still very early on in it's life i've only sent it out to 2 other users who i presume have not yet had chance to report back

but if you still want a copy just say so

I know it should work on XP and 98 as i have tried both , not sure about turning the power of for the monitor it seems to work on newer monitors, and I'm not sure if disabling the screen saver option works on XP but this could be overcome manually by turning of your screensaver and if needs be turning of your monior power save options ( it may have to be turned of as if the program cant obtain control of you power save options once your PC turns your monitor of the program may not be able to turn it back on you could soon know if it has control or not though as soon as you activate the porgram it will attempt to turn of your monitor - the program explains all this mind you before it does it)

Ok I took a look at the software. I'm using it on Windows XP professional. My monitor is flashing the screen, when I set the flash interval to a very high frequency 0.8. It doesn't flash with lower frequencies like 1 sec. I'll try to figure this thing out more, and I'll try it tonight.
