It is suggested to stay awake for an hour after waking for the wake-back-to-bed technique, but after an hour I often find that I cannot get back to sleep, and end up remaining awake in bed until later in the morning. |

It is not necessary to be up for an hour, but it helps ALOT for many and for the rest it's just gonna make them to awake to fall back to sleep. My suggestion is that you shorten the time gradually untill you find the time that is right to you. |

If I'm up for 10 minutes I can't get back to sleep |

I can't stay up long either. You don't have to be awake that long. You can even be awake for 10 minutes, go to the bathroom, get something to drink, whatever. Just heighten your awareness. Do lots of reality checks, think of LDing often. Maybe try staying up for 30 minutes and if you can't fall asleep after that, shorten it a bit more. Or try waking up while its still dark (say, after 4 hours of sleep or so) (depending what time you go to bed) and try that. i find it easier to fall asleep regardless, if its dark. Cover your windows with curtains or whatever to make the room darker if you wake up and it is light outside. |

flowers shall grow
and I am in them
and that is eternity.
