      DC-induced lucid dreams

      Hello everyone,

I would like to hear your ideas on something that came to my mind this morning. I haven't worked it out in great detail but I would like to know what you think of it.

An important aspect of DILD is the use of dream signs. As described in LaBerge's ETWOLD and extensively on these forums, they can be an amazing trigger for lucidity. We typically use objects, situations, actions or environments as dreamsigns. The core idea is that we recognise them. What if our dreamsigns could recognise us?

What would happen if got lucid and told everyone around me to tell me this is a dream the next time I see them? I realise that dream characters are not separate entities from our minds, and I don't think they have a memory or something like it, but I think it could trigger your subconscious into doing this.

When recalling non-lucids I realise my awareness is often quite low, too low to be triggered by some obvious dreamsigns, but being told that this is a dream might just do the trick.

The only way to know whether it works is of course by testing it, but I am not regularly lucid yet and my dreams aren't as stable as I would like them to be, so to speed up the process I would like to involve you all if you are interested.

I tried to put my idea to words as accurately as possible but when I read back now I realise it's quite vague. I hope it's clear enough, but if there are any questions feel free to ask

      E.D.

What we're trying to do here is incubate a dream which makes us lucid. Doing this is not a one time set it and forget thing, though. We dream about what is important to us at that given time, so we have to create and maintain the motivation to have the dream we want to have until it happens. We have to repeat this with each dream unless we become so motivated that the motivation becomes natural enough where we don't have to think about it anymore.

I think I see your point (correct me if I don't though), and I think the difference between this technique and generally trying to incubate a dream containing dreamsigns is the fact that you do the incubation whilst being in a dream. I feel like you are more closely and more directly connected to your subconscious in a dream, opening up new possibilities for interactions. I don't really expect it to work after one time, but if you can manage to plant the suggestion firmly into your subconscious it might just work.
