This seems like it could be a good way of reminding yourself to RC and be aware of your surroundings. One time I created a servitor (a type of entity that occultists sometimes create to fulfill specific tasks) to help me lucid dream, and it mostly worked by reminding me to RC. I would think that having your dream guide fulfill this role would work even better, since you don't have to create something entirely new - your dream guide is already established as something that helps you with your dreams.
