      Question The purpose of Life?

      A few burning questions.

What do you guys think is the purpose of life?
Who, in this life, is doing it right? You know like who do you think is doing life the right way, is it the drugged out rockstars partying everyday, is it the conscious bookworms who ace every test. Is it the simple families that take happiness out of the little things?
All types of stereotypes could be examined. What do you guys think is the best way to take advantage of this small rollercoaster we call "Life"

All this came about as i was studying for Biology (Which i should be right now) and i realized how meaningless all this was, studying, education, "GPA" exam scores, finals ,tests. Its all meaningless, just some scale to put you on to determine if you go to the "good" schools or not.
What do you guys think are careers that are the best? I have been thinking about experimental psychology alot lately or maybe graphic design or video editing, i certainly dont want a 9-5 day job.

MY purpose of life is to have a blast, then go skidding into my grave sideways.
The people who are doinitrite, imho, are the people who enjoy their lives by whatever means necessary.
GPA and all that isn't meaningless...it opens untold options to you if you take advantage of them.
I'm personally going into the field of pharmacy (for the lulz) and moving the hell out of America. But, that's just me.

      In my eyes,

The purpose is to have the experience of whatever entity you are. You are human, so you will experience life as a human, which will be distinct from experiences as a bird or a fungus. You fulfill this by doing whatever it is that you do. Everyone is doing it right.

All this came about as i was studying for Biology (Which i should be right now) and i realized how meaningless all this was, studying, education, "GPA" exam scores, finals ,tests. Its all meaningless, just some scale to put you on to determine if you go to the "good" schools or not.
You should find meaning in things that feel worthwhile to you, not because they are "given importance" by other institutions.

There is none, for there is no creator, therefore no intention.

Even if there is a creator, it does not mean there has to be a meaning to life. Also, just because there may be a creator does not mean he is all mystical and has powers and controlls an afterlife after you die, etc. A creator is just that...a creator! Life really has no meaning to it or we would understand it's meaning and get clues to meaning. Life just is. You can make your own meanings if you want, but that is all you're doing...making your own meaningfull life. Life can be whatever you want of it because we are free to do as we wish, even if it's a bad thing like killing. We have rules, but there is no meaning to life IMO. Do whatever you wanna do in life because once you're gone you're gone.

      >What do you guys think is the purpose of life?
The question is anthropomorphic. Life does not have a purpose, it is not a sentient being. You, by definition, do have a purpose. It is found in biology and stated long ago, "To have life and have it more abundantly." Every environmental acquistion system of a living organism has the same purpose--to maintain and promote the life of the body.

      >Who, in this life, is doing it right?
That is a question you do not ask a person, but ask the definition of the human mind. A definition is the standard which determines predication (i.e. is and is not) The definition, that environmental acquisition system which must acquire experience and from those experiences abstract forms of behavior that maintain and promote your existence.

Not knowing what the purpose is, maybe?

If I did see someone doing it right I probably wouldn't understand what the hell I was looking at.

      Have lots of sex.

Objectively, as far as I can tell, life has no meaning whatsoever.

Fortunately we are not objective creatures. We are subject to the conditions of being walking pieces of meat who can consider things and have various instinctive drives.

/Existence/, perhaps, has no meaning. But each little individual life is driven by a concoction of given meanings - to survive, to reproduce; to bask in the sunlight of a new day.

We can never get out of our lives to truly see the utter emptiness of existence, no matter what you might think yourself in teenage anti-establishment musings. And to this I say fucking hooray.

I think the worst long-term decision you can make is to create the limiting belief that the purpose of your life is bestowed upon you by external sources, rather than created 100% by you.

I just noticed this thread, and I think some of the questions that you ask are very similar to issues I recently brought up in another thread. Check that thread out and give me your opinions:
The philosophy and science of overall life happiness

Answering these questions is something that I struggle with as well. One of the reasons that I posted the thread was to hear lots of other people's opinions and arguments so that I could come to some kind of solid conclusion for myself.

As a side note, I may be biased but I would in any case second going for a career in experimental psychology . But you should know in advance that as an academic you'll be plenty busy with all manner of trivial administrivia even if it's not quite a traditional "9 to 5" job.

Short Term(Myself): Become someone during a revolution. Change humanities view on fiat currencies and suggest a new way of living without slavery.
