Thread: Is it possible to learn to read human's mind?

Sometimes you want to read human's thoughts. Has anyone heard where it is possible to learn it? I am sorry if this question is not related to the topic.

I would rather say, It's not possible, Yet.

I believe a machine can now vaguely extract images out of your mind. So if you think really hard about something, the machine can give the general color scheme and some positions and stuff. I kinda looks like what you are thinking about, but way less detailed. This is only the beginning though. There are also some scanners that look at your facial expression to spot your intentions. Heart rate. Some other stuff.

I think in the future there will be machines that will come very close to it. Though I believe that if you want the exact information the brain holds, you need to break it down completely. So, in the future I believe there will be mind reading to quite a high degree, but there will always be limitations.

As for Humans reading other people's mind. I don't think it is very probable. No double blind test has ever shown anyone capable of doing this.

Why bother?

My attention is pretty much maxed out hearing what people want me to hear, whether I'm interested or not... I'm not sure I would also want to know what they don't want me to know.

Besides, there is probably much more value in developing a trusting relationship than there is in knowing what a person thinks.

Or perhaps I'm waxing too philosophic?

You can learn to read body language and expressions. People do it naturally, and that is why you can often tell how people are feeling and stuff, even when they try to hide it. If you improve that skill, you can read people very well and get a good idea of what they are thinking.

It depends on what a thought is. It exists abstractly, or potentially in the subtle, which is a theoretical level of perception and existence below the surface of what is concretely perceptible. Some conceive that the mind is the same as the EM aura and that thoughts exist like radio waves and can be collected and decoded. But when we do get our feet wet and step into the subtle, we often find that place ineffable. The language there speaks directly to the mind.

So I don't think you can pick up the abstract thoughts, but I think you can pick up intent. You can learn body language, or your subtle perception may be able to pick up on it, maybe sometimes you just know not to trust someone.

reading minds would probably be very misleading and may likely give you the wrong impression about the person.

Brothers and Sisters , reading other people's Mind is really the hardest thing in this life , why ? because we have reallly different thinking point of view.

Also we can only GUESS what others think which happens alot of times as coincidence to be true , because we know the Person! lol
but if you go to a random person and guess ,i am sure 99.9% u will fail.

also the machine thing , its fake too , there is nothing that can transform humans mind into reality conversion.

Would you care to elaborate on this? From what I think you might be saying, I'm interested in how you arrived at that conclusion. However, I really don't know what you are saying, and I realize that English is not your first language but maybe you could try explaining yourself using different words so I can get a better idea of what you mean. Will you try?

No dough , you will have to try harder to understand me if you really want to

I think it is very possible and may be labelled crazy for saying this but often I anticipate other people's thoughts just milliseconds before they say them out loud unintentionally and I cannot think coincidence happens every day. Perhaps this is not per say mind reading but being very good at reading body language and knowing people very well perhaps, but its still creepy at times.

On occasion I think about a person and within moments they call or arrive at work/home and I can't help but think there is something to this as it has occurred numerous times.

It's possible, but the distinction I'm drawing is that if someone thinks in Chinese, you won't hear that. You can pick up on the language of intention and use to bypass language barriers though.

Regarding why the mind reading machine doesn't work:

1. The conductive differences between the layers of bone and flesh and the air allow not very much signal to radiate out from the head.
2. Whatever is detectable is the surface, so whatever is going on underneath gets all mixed together. It would be like trying to read every page of a transparent book at once.
3. Decoding how the brain works is a problem even apart from that. How for instance would you recognize the radio equivalent of a thought of a particular color?
4. Yeah, why would you bother? It would be like trying to see up someone's skirt but worse.

Telepathy works on completely different principles. Yes it is possible, and it doesn't depend on reading subtle physical cues, or extrapolating from what is known about a person, even though people do those things too. Distance isn't an obstacle at all. It is mostly impressions of things like feelings and motives, but can be remarkably detailed, with specific information that's metaphorically related to the subtler stuff. I doubt anyone can control it well enough to prove it easily though, and it doesn't benefit anyone to fund a proper study. Most of the time it also requires a degree of openness that few people are comfortable with. I think that people who are really interested should explore it and decide for themselves, and people who aren't really interested are better off just leaving it alone.
