Thread: 11:11

to be honest with everyone here, i never noticed the number 11 in my entire life, and still don't. i'm not consciously avoiding it or anything at all. and furthermore i quite frankly don't even like that number, to me it's just a couple of lines lol. i think my dislike for this number is a direct result of this thread (no offense), before this i never had a 'feeling' for this number. when i do see it, it's almost never the minute but the hour, for example 11:17 or 11:43 or something like that, not 12:11 or 11:11. there are exceptions of course.

all in all i don't see what the fuss is about for this number, and i would bet money that most of you who think there is a significance of any kind for this number don't know either.

think, why would the "universe" keep throwing this number at me? why do i think it's the universe that's doing it as oppose to me tricking myself? why should i take this seriously?

i hope you meditate on these questions.

Firstly, must say I love your avatar. I'm a pretty big fan of Alex Grey's artwork.

Secondly, I have noticed this number in my life for quite a while. It seems to somewhat of a global phenomenon, though many claim for it to just be a case of 'Blue Car Syndrone' - basically, once your attention is brought to it, you notice it more often because you're conscious of it.
It used to really bother me tbh. I associate it often with bad luck, when I'm kinda down, it just seems like a bad sign to me. I first learnt about it off a relative of mine, who reckons they see it everyday, and then a while after (maybe a year) it happened to me, and I still see it almost daily.

Honestly, I obsessed over this for a quite a while. It seems pretty dumb to me that I would worry over a number, that I guess, cant really do anything to me, but I wasnt sure what to think.

It seems to mean different things to different people, or like me originally, some people are just confused with it's presence.

I've read that the number 11 is associated with perfection... or being higher than God... or something. I'm not too sure. I've forgotten now, but there are few a links in Tool's music (as I'm a fan) with 11, and a lot people claim it is to do with occult sort of stuff. I'm not sure. Just a few things Ive heard, hope this helps somewhat.

3) Remember that, talk about it on the internet with others
4) Start seeing it everywhere because you want to, and are aware of it.

I think it really is that simple.

Although I do see 11:11 myself, I do agree with your reasoning. I think if I was never told about it, I probably wouldnt think much of it.

happens to me all the time to!! one of my closest friend see it too.....sometimes we call each other and look at the clock at the same time saying 11 11...hehe... we have set our clocks at the same time...

i started to see the 11:11 all the time when i first got introduced to spiritual stuff...and the no. 11 11 was never mentioned in those books i read... but i tend to take notis when something keeps repeating itself 4 me...

has anyone had it happen in the past and it has now just stopped,thats whats happend to me,even though now im aware that some people belive it to have significance which is what id be inclined to belive.so now im even more aware of 11.11 but it doesnt happen.so people saying just because you become aware of the number somehow then always see it is not true in my case

Surely the only reason that 11:11 appears to be significant is because it is the only time (except for 22:22) that all the numbers are the same?

not at all, 1.11, 2.22,3.33, 4.44, 5,55 but obviously not on 24hr clocks

Umm.. On 24 hour clocks there are still 1.11am, 2.22am and all of the others..
I'm not sure if you realised, but one and eleven (1.11) are not the same numbers where as eleven and eleven (11:11) are.

If 11:11 is significant why not 00:00am or 01:01am. In fact there are many different combinations of numbers which could appear significant (12:34:56, 22:22:22, 11:12, 09:11, 06:06:06, 13:37) if it was not for the fact that they are just numeric values of time which appear every day of every year.

Is something special going to happen in 2011 on the 11/11 at the time 11:11:11?
No. If it was going to it would have happened 900 years before that.

If anything the time 11:06 should be looked at with more warning.. See if you can work out why.

i didnt notice some of those things but i just meant that in proper 24hr terms wouldnt it be 01.11,like they say zero one hundred hours and eleven minutes? maybe wrong its just what i thought. not got a clue about 11 06 or 18.30,maybe i will notice those now

There is a belief that random numbers in your everyday life, called numerology. Wether on your recipts, signs you see, in your dreams, etc. are reflections pf where you're at in life right now. My friend had the same thing with I'm pretty sure the same number though I can't remember the meaning of it.

Sometimes I see numbers that follow me around, but I don't pay too much attention to it. One time though, I guessed the right time down to the second (confirmed when I looked at my watch). I hadn't even looked at a clock for an hour or two.

My "life number" is definitely nine. My birthday is 8/9/1990, and the average of the numbers is nine. On 9/9/99, I was nine years old and my classroom number was nine.

I think that a lot of the time people just desperately search for number patterns and mold it to fit the answers they want. For example, I could say that I was nine in 4th grade, and just one grade up is 5th. By adding the grade numbers, I'd get nine. I would be completely ignoring 3rd grade, which would instead give me seven.

A lot of the time, I look at the clock at exactly 11:11. It stands out because of that specific number pattern, and it gives the illusion of constantly popping up. How many times have I looked at a clock when it was exactly 4:36? I really don't know, because that number means nothing to me.

Times like 4:44 am, 3:33 am, etc, may be programmed into our biological clocks. Or maybe it's that people who go to bed at about the same time wake up at the same time in their sleep cycle. I've woken up at times like that, but I usually wake up at odd hours like 4:12 am or 3:27. Then again, my sleep schedule is pretty messed up.

Not to say that all reoccurring numbers should simply be brushed off. It's still strange when some seem to follow us around, but I think in general people see the same number twice and call it paranormal.

When i look at the clock, It always says like weird numbers like 4:44 5:43 or 1:23 etc..

I used to listen to a radio station whose frequency was 104.3, and at the time I used to notice frequently when the time was 10.43. I noticed it once or twice and from then it became more frequent.

I'm not one to explain all strange occurrences as coincidences, but there's truly nothing in this one.

At one time, I really thought there was something special about this number. That is why I have "111" in my signature pic.

However.. I then learned about confirmation bias. Where you can pick any number and "see it" a lot.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I have, at one time, believed this. I simply adopt it now as a favored number that I like to symbolize myself with.

I used to look at the clock a t 11:11 all the time.

It kinda scared me a little.

11:11 is supposed to the time at which you make a wish!

Also if you think a number will appear a lot it will to you. I bet you could make the number 15 show up all the time if you wanted. You just don't notice all the other sequences you see in the day. It's all in your head. It all just depends on how you trained your mind to see it you would remember it so you think wow again today? But if you remembered every time you saw the number 30 it would be the same deal...

I'm "haunted" by 22:22. I don't usually think about this kind of stuff or give any special meaning to numbers. Sometimes I notice 23:23 but is very rare. The 22:22 thing has been happenig for years now, though. It's annoying 'cause you start getting the feeling you're being told something and you just don't get what. I can't think of any meaning for it.

Rofl... I laughed when I read this post this morning, but now when I checked the clock and I saw it was 11:11 I laughed so hard...

But seriously... I don't believe that the number has a meaning, although I wouldn't rule out the possibility of collective consciousness, I'm sure we've all experienced it at some point.

I guess I can kinda relate to what you're saying. For example, whenever I look at the clock at work it is always 13:37, which used to really creep me out. I don't mean just once or twice a week, I mean every day, without fail. The more I thought about it though, the more I realized it was most likely just confirmation bias... unless the 'universe' is trying to tell me that I'm 'leet'
