is there any some what solid evidence that chakras exist?

i was wondering if there has been any results from studies that have given proof to the existence of chakras and the energy body as well. also where exactly are the seven chakras? do they predate hinduism in any other culture? did the dravidians (the people taken over by the nomadic caste system having people that made hinduism) have any teachings about this stuff? obviously in china there is the chi energy teachings but i believe hinduism predates these teachings, although i could be wrong and records from that long ago are sketchy at best (oral tradition/telephone game...). then the tibetans picked up the energy body/chakra teachings and called prana lung instead but has it been developed independently anywhere?

I doubt there will be any scientific proof that they exist or anything that has to do with the subtle body(ies). Science is firmly rooted in observable, quantifiable data and until we can find a way of reliably detecting non-physical environments there will be no way to proceed.

At a personal level (and this can be collective of course) you can gain knowledge of such things through practice. I have on several occasions had my heart chakra opened dramatically through specific guided mediations. The effects were undeniable to me, but I'd have a hard time proving them!

BTW, to answer your question about independent development of energy body teachings, etc., if you believe Castaneda, then Mexican cultures have been working on this for untold millenia.

there is no such thing as proof outside of mathematics. Disease is supported through germ theory (Allopathic Medicine) & energy medicing (Traditional Chinese Medicine)However, evidence is found anywhere you look.

I can feel my heart chakra when I love. I feel it when it gets broken.

I have felt my throat chakra close when I have gotten stage fright. I have felt it open when I speak from truth.

I have felt butterflies in my stomach when my solar plexus/manipura is talking.

I have felt my sacral chakra open when I have an orgasm.

This is not proof but it is the evidence that I have experienced that tells me they are real & where they are.
Given this is not a complete list of the chakras but I am ok with that

Have you ever experienced anything related to your third eye chakra?

To OP, as mentioned before, there is no solid evidence that they exist

I have, but not seeing things as ghosts in the physical plane.

Some times when I get infuriated and think about what a person is thinking to express my anger my sixth chakra reacts, its right between my eyebrows, the bad thing that it hurts deep inside, it's a very strange pain, to me it only happens with both of those conditions.

i like this! it's a good point because that's in large part what i see them as; different parts of your being that experience things that aren't quite logically explained by anatomy.

The best evidence I have found isn't about chakras specifically, but relates to the same cultures that testify to the truth of chakras/the human energy body.

This ancient mandala is called the Sri Yantra. It has a specific geometric shape. The shape comes from the personal experiences of those who fall into a deep trance over it's corresponding sound. That is, when these individuals meditated to the sound, this geometric is what appeared in their mind. It was a time tested experience.

It turns out it's not just their wild imagination. We have technology now that can play the sound and show us the geometric shape that corresponds to that sound - and it forms the Sri Yantra! So here we have these people who were experiencing reality - the reality of sound as form - it's a different reality, but still reality.

So I give these people the benefit of the doubt. So far science has yet to prove them wrong. And while people will argue "aha but chakras are really just nerves!" They don't understand. The eastern spirituality DOES NOT separate spirit from flesh. It's all intermingled. And in some weird and freaky way, that all relates back to sound having form.

the study Jurora talks about is called cymatics=the study of sound on matter.
look it up on you tube.

For the record I have heard of them seein the sri yantra in sand vibrating to the corresponding frequency of it on top of a speaker but I haven't seen it.

I have seen it on you tube for the tone or frequency of OM.

wow thats super cool! also the location of the throat chakra that controls dream and sleep is located where the brain stem is which controls dream and sleep! buddhist theory and some hindu theory on the body and reality in general keep getting proven right by science!

Look up rice resonance on youtube!

All cultures who were in touch with their energy bodies developed chakra teachings. They were not all indentical teachings however. But the ancient Egyptians were probably the first. They had teachings that humans have 7 souls that dwell in different organs. The heart is where the spiritual soul dwells. They had the kundalini teachings as well and you have probably seen the pharaohs with the headdress with the snakes coming out the forehead? That is the awakened kundalini and knowledge of self as god. Then the teachings spread to India and Greece from there. And then to China, Tibet, etc. and Europe and Ireland, British Isles.
Same thing in central America. It seems like these teachings were always discovered in warm climates for some reason, and then brought all over the world. The native americans of North America visualized a hummingbird in their heart and the Hopi teach to keep the top of your head open so that you can fly with the eagle (Great Spirit).
This is enough to make me interested that there is something to this. But I am not satisfied until I experience it myself.
There are major nerve centers where the chakras are located, also glands. Each chakra has a corresponding gland or organ.
Hindus teach of 7 chakras along the spine and head. Very linear.
1 Root chakra (Muladhara) at the base of the tailbone
2 Second chakra (Svadisthana) above and behind the pubic bone.
3 Solar chakra (Manipura) at the solar plexus
4 Heart Chakra (Anahatta) In center of chest behind sternum
5 Throat chakra (Vissudha) where the throat meets the collar bones
6 Third eye chakra (Ajna) between the eyebrows and a little bit up, about an inch inside your skull
7 Crown chakra (Sahasrara) At the top of the head where your fontanelle was when you were a baby

Some teachings have higher chakras that extend above your head with the highest one being in the center of the galaxy

Tibetan teachings have 5 chakras. They have one in the sexual organs, One near the navel, a heart chakra, a throat chakra and a forehead chakra that encompasses the forehead and the crown. But rather than being linear the flow goes from forehead over the top of your head down your neck to the heart down your spine through your perineum up into your genitals and the other way also.

Chinese Toaist have three chakras, but they are slightly different than chakras, but similar concept. They have a big one that encompasses the head and neck, one that encompasses the chest and one that encompasses the abdomen and genitals. But they have tons of minor chakras. each point where two or more meridians cross is a minor chakra, and acupuncture point. They have many pathways of energy, namely the small heavenly cycle (microcosmic orbit) and the great heavenly cycle (Macrocosmic orbit). They have many channels of energy that carry the chi to sustain the body, and they have nine channels that channel the chi into higher forms of chi that awaken psychic knowledge and powers. the Taoist practices of immortality is to transmute the primordial chi (CHINg, jing) into the highest chi which they call Shen (Spirit). When this is done one becomes immortal. This is done by exercising the 8 or 9 psychic channels. But one cannot unite with the tao until one dies. But when an immortal dies he rides off on a dragon, according to mythology.

As for proof? each person has to prove it for themselves in the laboratory of their own body and mind.

I used to be confused by all these confliciting teachings. But I have come to realize that we have minor, major chakras all over. Each organ has an energy to it. Each joint leaks energy and we have chakras at each joint. Soles of the feet have chakras, palms of the hands have chakras, ankles have chakras, knees have chakras, wrists, etc... try to feel all of them. Joints are where we leak energy so it is important to fortify them.

I am ranting here, but so be it! Let me end on this note: the 61 point relaxation technique is a great technique, not just for wilding, but to experience your chakras and keep them healthy and balanced.
