      Oceandrop's Workbook

      Hello,

like you can see is my Nickname Oceandrop and I joined this Forum in May (2012), anyway I hope I will have enough time to cultivate this Workbook and achieve all the homeworks that will be given out.

All lists below can be expanded in the future, they are definitely not final.

Dreamsigns that occur often in my dreams

      • Weapons
      • War

      Reality checks

      • Finger count
      • Sometimes nose plug

      Awareness
I don't know if its a technique, but I often use LaBerges exercise about "Your present state of consciousness", or at least try to remember to use it. So that I just try to be aware what I see, listen, feel, taste, smell, that I breath, what Emotions I have at the current state, my thoughts, that I'm not the feelings/things I experience, but that >I< experience the feelings and to be aware that I am aware. Also I try to use the things Sageous mentioned in his "Mental Prep Part A".
I hope that I through these exercises also become more aware of things that are strange when I'm dreaming and get easier lucid / lucidity through these exercises.

      Goals
Of course this is a list of goals I want to fulfill in my lucid dreams, so when something of this happens in my normal dreams, it doesn't count.

[X] Stabilize a Lucid Dream by rubbing hands.
[ ] Meeting the so-called Dreamguide and try to summon/meet him/her in further Dreams after it.
      [ ] Fly.
      [ ] Change the dreamscape/scene on purpose.
[ ] Visit the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
[ ] Visit the Ayers Rock. (Also a Real life dream).
      [ ] Colossus of Rhodes.
[ ] visit "The Wall" from Game of Thrones. (In fact I did in a normal dream once).
[ ] Don't disturb the dream flow, but go with the dream to see what happens.
(For example, in my last Lucid Dream, before I got lucid I was worried that a Train would leave without me, but after I got lucid, I cast that thought away to get onto the train and walked in a whole different direction just to see what there is, it was still an amazing dream of course, but anyway that is a goal now for me to try to go with the dream flow and stay lucid).
      [ ] Control Air/Fire/Water/Earth.
[ ] Fulfill some TOTM (Can also be Old TOTM).
      [ ] Hear music.
      [ ] Eat something.
      [ ] Eat a watermelon.

Goals that I strongly wish to fulfill
[ ] Use this workbook to motivate myself and getting more self-discipline @ making RCs and try to remember LaBerges Awareness exercise.
[ ] Fly on a Airship, whether its a "real" Zeppelin, or a Final Fantasy like Airship, I don't care I love them all :3
[ ] Morph/Shape-shift into different forms of Animals/Creatures to find my favorite one. (Thanks Harelori for the inspiration for this goal)
      [ ] Study.
[ ] Building/Creating something similiar to LaBerges Dream Workshop.
[ ] Possible an Airship for travel around.
[ ] And a Chinese styled house in the Mountains, more similiar to the Dream Workshop LaBerge describes.

      Current Technique

Until now I just used DILD/MILD I think. As soon as I catch up the WILD Class, I will probably also try WILD seriously.

      Other stuff

Thanks to Paige and Harelori I looked at their Workbooks to know how to structure mine and lent some things.

Thanks for the warm welcome OpheliaBlue :-)
And yea quite a few goals huh, but when I first get lucid more often, I'm confidient about being able to fulfilling them all :3

Ps: Looking foreward to tomorrows class! Thanks for doing this Ophelia and using your time to teach.

Woo! Welcome to the class Oceanderp

I love your goals list! It's always great to have goals, I personally make a point of updating my goal list at the start of the month and then set myself a deadline for the end of the month. Setting yourself the challenge to accomplish them by a certain date really gets you motivated

The best reason for having dreams is that in dreams no reasons are necessary.

No sailor controls the sea. Only a foolish sailor would say such a thing. Similarly, no lucid dreamer controls the dream.
Like a sailor on the sea, we lucid dreamers direct our perceptual awareness within the larger state of dreaming.

Thanks RareCola! I will try to challenge some of them by a certain date for extra Motivation

So I will now also post here everyday, just to hold track of what I exactly did in connection to become a better Lucid Dreamer and other stuff. It may therefore not always be something worth to post, but for me it also can be funny to see what progress I do in Recalling dreams and remembering to do RC's, and maybe writing about things in connection with Lucid Dreams also helps with getting Lucids in the future.

      Dreams:

Anyway, today I woke up pretty early, and remembered a dream about a TV-Show, where I was just a part of the audience, I also began to notice that something was wrong, but sadly my dream changed it to be more logically after I started to suspect that something wasn't quite right and I didn't get lucid.
Anyway I wasn't so much disappointed by that after I woke up, because I'm on the right track I think and I nontheless enjoyed the dream very much and it was quite a good recall :3

After I did not have any plans for today, I got back to bed and tried again a MILD, it didn't work but the dream I had was quite interesting, I was underwater with many other people diving, and all people had some kind of Big camera on their arms myself included, anyway most of them filmed the fishes but I began to film the human behavior, later we also get out of the water and drived with a jeep, but I don't want to turn this into a DJ.
So anyway, the dream was interesting for me because this was, I think, the first Dream I had underwater or at least the only one I remember.

      RC's:

Did remember to do RC's over the day, used the palm check/finger count. In the future I will also try to use the combinded senses reality check Ophelia talked about in the Chat Class. Also I like to do the Awareness Exercise LaBerge describes in his Book EtWoLD, I did it twice today. Also maybe trying Oreo's DDA technique in the future.

      New Dreamsigns:

After I updated my offline DJ here on Pc, and wrote DJs from my Book into the PC it became clear to me, that I have two other dreamsigns that appears often in my dreams, both from my Childhood. The house where I grew up and my primary School.

Plans for my next Lucid (Daily goal Homework):

I hope that I can fulfill some of the following in my future lucids:

At least visiting the environment where I want to create my Dream-Workshop Home. Also trying to create the Dream-Workshop home ofc. High goals I know, but also if I don't get to fulfill it right away in my next dream, maybe I can fulfill other goals by trying to fulfill it, like changing the dreamscape/scene and flying. So this is my next goal!

*snickers* Oceanderp. This name amuses me. I really like your suggestion too. Deadlines always motivate me too.

      Oceandrop:
Awareness in dreams is always good! Keep up the awareness in reality, you're doing a good job. I hope you create your workshop in your next lucid!

      Thank you Caenis!

      Edit: 5. June

I changed my focus a bit after thinking over it, I will now first try to just get one Lucid until next Sunday as Goal, because I have the feeling that this will have more success right now then focusing on a for big goal :3 So I will now focuse my thoughts on that. When it works and I have a Lucid again until Sunday, a secondary goal is to remember that I want to have a long and stabilize dream. So, for summarize:

      • Having a Lucid Dream until Sunday
      • Secondary, Remember to stabilize and try to prolong the dream as long as possible
      • All other goals on Ice, until I achieve a Long Lucid Dream, where I just enjoy the dream and being Lucid and don't try anything more specific.

      Dreams:

Recalled 4 dreams today, one was a FA.
In the FA I found letters on my night table, I looked on the letters and on one letter my name was weird some letters were wrong, maybe a good chance for getting lucid but I didn't, just thought that the post must have done something wrong and send me a wrong letter, I openend the letter and found out that it actually was a letter that was addressed to an old comrade and they actually got mixed our names up or something, so it was "really" the post that got something wrong also weird enough their was a small bag with money (coins) in the letter o_O... Something more happened but maybe I will start soon a DJ so I don't have to misuse my Workbook for it, anyway other dreams aren't so interesting, because I didn't suspect anything in them.
Just in the FA I stumble across my/the weird name. Also my memory about the FA is in the end a bit blurry.

      Other comments:
Everytime after I recalled my dreams and wrote them down in my notebook after waking up, I perform a RC, but in my FA's I don't, dunno why this is, maybe it will just take some time.

Short update, also for myself as reminder. Will try to work on my routine before I go to bed, talked with RareCola about it on IRC and know now actually how I will prepare myself before going to sleep, I'm excited if it will change something whether it is recall or maybe also a lucid dream :3, really exciting feeling I have right now. Also, seen Waking Life today, pretty weird but nice movie. If I get a lucid until next Sunday I will also finally start a DJ here on the Forum.

Well done on your recalled dreams Oceandrop!

I also began to notice that something was wrong, but sadly my dream changed it to be more logically after I started to suspect that something wasn't quite right and I didn't get lucid.
Oh I hate when that happens. It's like my subconscious tries to trick me. I've had RCs fail at times like this. FAs like the one you had are also frustrating. You're doing a great job finding unusual things happen, but then you end up blaming it on something other than it being a dream. So really REALLY keep up those RCs. Like you said, it may take time, but it's so worth it.

I look forward to reading your journal when you finally start one! In the meantime, using your workbook for the highlights is fine by me

      Soo it's time again.

I got to bed around 1 a.m. and I adjusted my alarm before I fell asleep, I also repeated my mantra, but unfortunately drifted into daydreams I woke up, natural not from my alarm, and recalled a pretty unspectacular dream. I had time enough so after making some notes about the dream I fell asleep again and woke up the second time this night/early morning, I now recalled two dreams, or at least it seemed so, I think it is more likely that I forgot the transfer from the one dreamscape/theme to the other.

Anyway No lucids yet, but I wasn't sad because I could recall a pretty long dream :3 When I looked at the time I was a bit shocked, because I had expected that hours had passed since my first waking up, but that wasn't the case lol. The dream seemed only so long. Happy as I was. I tried it again with repeating my mantra, and woke up again x)

And now things get a bit weird, I recalled the dream and I think I did not move much around as I recalled it, and I suddenly felt how the Sleep Paralysis began, so I told myself to not be afraid this time and let it happen and wow it was super weird but this time I didn't got super afraid but I failed again nontheless, maybe because I focused to much on the SP instead of falling into sleep.

So the results of the night are 3 | 4 dreams :3 + a failed DEILD (I think). Ah before I forget it, I became somewhat Lucid in the end of the last dream, before I died, because I remembered that I can't die, not as I can't die hurr durr, but more like hey wait that must be a dream because I can't die >that way<. But it was somehow to late the realization and as I died and in the same time realized that I must be dreaming I felt my dream and my waking body at the same time and shortly after it I woke up

      Also something interesting:
I was standing before a shop that sold icecream, and the captions for the descriptions were just weird (You know like Chocolate, Strawberry etc.) so I was a bit taken aback when it was my turn to choice a icecream, and tried to figure out what kind of icecreams they had.. I asked myself if the seller maybe came from a foreign country.. uhm but I never asked myself if I was maybe dreaming x) damn you dream I! Anyway in the end I just asked and the seller had no problem to translate the weird names lol.

Ps: I got one chocolate, strawberry and one I can't remember but I know I got three balls :3

Sounds like you had a fun night ;P Keep up the mantras and your mind should adapt and you'll be able to do it naturally without any kind of stimulation but goals.

Your recall is really improving as well, 3/4 dreams in a night is incredible!

Unlucky on the failed DEILD, but the fact that you managed to stop yourself from getting scared shows you have more control over yourself, so it's a lot of progress since the last time you got SP.

      Keep up the good work

I recalled 3 dreams today one of them really long but none of them lucid.

I also tried a kind of WBTB, I tried to imagine how I would become lucid etc. a bit like Oreoboys Daydream technique maybe? Anyway I had a hard time to fall asleep again, it ended that I was to frustrated and got out of my bed turning on the PC checking old pictures until I wondered why I had so many pictures on my new PC even ones I couldn't recall where from I got them.. So yes a FA with me in the dream trying to fall asleep while imagining to become lucid lol actually I woke up a bit later (sadly), maybe I was close to becoming lucid

Btw I read something interesting an Article from 2009, the part of the brain which is responsible for the critical appraisal of events which is normally "asleep" when we dream, is actually not asleep when we get lucid. The "prefrontal cortex" gets activated again as soon as the lucid dreamer enters lucidity. So it actually wakes up again whereas other parts of the brain are still asleep.

But I guess I am just a slowpoke and that are old news for most of you, I just didn't knew it until today, I thought the part of the brain which is like the critical thinker would be asleep also in lucid dreams.

      Oh yea my August Goals:

-> Write something on a paper and let a DC read it out loud (I am excited to see if they read out loud something totally different, if they read out loud what I saw on the paper before I handed it to them (you know because letters often change or getting totall abstract in dreams) or if they actually read out loud what I wanted to write on it.)
-> Trying the basic task of the month
-> Summon a Lion that helped me out in some of my nightmares that I had as kid

Wow, you were really close Oceandrop! You were a little aware in your FA, and thinking about LDs. So did you wake up after realizing you didn't recognize/remember some of the pictures, or did you get distracted from that inconsistency? Good job on the recall by the way. It's nice to remember your dreams, even if they aren't lucid.

I like your first goal, that's a cool idea. I bet other people's DCs would react differently to that task too. If you complete that goal, let us know how it turns out!

Thanks Caenis! I actually woke up after it, I didn't (this time) got distracted by something.

Btw today each time when I woke up from a dream I tried the Mantra I have, MILD, but when I do this I have actually (also when I go to sleep) trouble to fall asleep, so that that in the end my thoughts get distracted and I end up with daydreaming before falling asleep and not with my Mantra :[ Maybe I should just try to stay "focused" and wait until I fall asleep (?)

      *removes the dust*

Ha, once a lucid dreamer, always a lucid dreamer. Whoever reads this (most likely myself ) I am back on the track! But you know that already if you're the me from the future, so anyway Since I last posted here I had some lucid dreams, but more or less I did not really try to get some, that changed now. My routine before I sleep, relating to getting a LD, now looks like that:

      • Reading some old dreams
      • Reading in ETWOLD
      • Intent to wake up after every dream I have this night, and then proceed with the MILD technique described in ETWOLD (in short: Mantra + imagine the dream you had before you woke up with the change that you imagine yourself becoming lucid)

The last days I had (with one exception) really neat recall and always woke up early from my last dream just 4 or 5 hours sleep but decently refreshed, so that I could decide whether I wanted to try WBTB or stay in bed. Also for RC I now ask myself and ofc answer following questions; Where I am, if my environment looks normal and why am I here and where was I before + checking my digital wristwatch twice.

I also try to participate more in the forum by engaging in threads, reading other online DJ, different guides and hope that will get my mind on the right track. Hope no one minds that I activate my old Workbook.
