      Smile 11/12/2012 - NAP - Status

      1st NAP 1st Lucid Dream

Last Bed time: 05:00 pm - Wake up time: 06:45 am

Today I was bit free from projects and was thinking that what should I do? Then I gone through from Napping Article from Lucidity Institute which "OpheliaBlue" provided me. Then I thought I should Take a NAP. I went to my bed and while relaxing myself I started visualizing my next LD goal. After some time I started saying following mantra:"This is a dream and I am lucid and I can do what ever i want". while saying this I slept.

I had 4 to 5 dreams while napping and suddenly in one dream I realized that I am dreaming.

My Lucid Dream: I am in a colony where I have been lived for 10 years. There I was running from a Junk Yard I think I was scared of something and suddenly I realized that I am dreaming, When I realized that I am dreaming, I felt Wao. I Jumped and start flying and came to front of my house from the back side of my home. While Flying I am trying to stabilize my dream by rubbing my hand with each other, But I dont know why a bright day converted into Full Dark It was like I am awaking or may be loosing lucidity. In the Darkness I was falling into darkness but i am still Lucid And thinking that May be dream is teleporting me to other place, Suddenly I had lot of noise, I did my best keep myself Lucid But I Lost it. and reached into Normal dream. :-)

I have feeling that I had one more lucid dream but I dont remember it, I mean I am not sure about it.

      Waiting for response.

      Thanks

      Confusions:

      1. Why I couldn't remember My LD Goal in my Lucid dream?
      2. Why I couldn't keep maintain it?
      3. Why I went to darkness?
      4. Advises for me?

      1. Why I couldn't remember My LD Goal in my Lucid dream?
It takes quite a bit of awareness to even become lucid. It takes more awareness to actually remember things that we planned out since our logical mind isn't functioning too well in the dream. I suggest thinking and reading your goals right before bed, and a few times in the day so it really goes into your mind and it will be easier to remember.

      2. Why I couldn't keep maintain it?
It's normal to have very unstable dreams, especially in your first few lucids. But don't worry, that's only because it's a totally new thing and you're kind of not used to it yet. But it will get better in your future lucids! And it was a good thing you tried to stabilize, at least you remembered!

      3. Why I went to darkness?
Dreams often toss out really random things, so there isn't really an explanation for why those stuff happen. However, many people do experience their dream fading away once they start to wake up. I guess that's just the way the dream kind of "turns off". :3

      4. Advises for me?
Congrats on your first lucid!! Keep doing what you're doing. Now you knowhow awesome it can feel! Use that as your motivation, and keep thinking positive!

I'm so happy for your first lucid. It's a great feeling isn't it.

I dont have much time to break it all down but I think paigey covered it well.

All the stuff you exprienced is really common and normal. You will soon learn to work with it. Congratulations!

Hi Jawad. For your goals, I would suggest doing something simple for now. Maybe try to make something simple appear, like your favorite object, or a person. You can think about them when you get lucid, or imagine them being there when you turn around. Or maybe you'd like to fly? You can jump up and just think you can fly. You can also make things move with your mind. Those are the basic ones I think you should try out.

      Good luck

Looks good, Jawad. Are you noticing any common themes and elements in your dreams? Keep a look out for your dream signs! It may take a few more days to really know what they are, though, but just keep recording your dreams.

Jawad, great job on staying so diligent with the dream journaling. Recalling 5 dreams is actually very respectable! Heck, I find that if I go to bed very tired and unfocused, I'll still occasionally have nights where I recall no dreams at all!

How about your WBTB? Are you still able to practice this? I noticed that you hadn't mentioned it in the last few entries and I was just curious. WBTB is a huge force in achieving lucidity, and it's difficult for me to overstate its importance. The downside, of course, is that it's quite demanding schedule-wise, so don't feel like you MUST incorporate it even when you're feeling tired and run down. I'm just trying to get a read on whether you're still able to fit it in.

If you are including a WBTB, how do you currently have it structured?

Good luck and keep up the good work with your dream journaling. Paigey's advice about looking for dreamsigns is great, so if you run across some new ones, you can write em down and integrate them into your practice. This is yet another thing that thorough journaling enables, so use it to your advantage!

      Dream Signs and WBTB

      Hello

Thank you so much paigeyemps and CanisLucidus for detailed guidance.

Paige you are right I should find out some dream signs from my dreams. Now I am going to observe my dreams and then will tell you about my dream signs.

CanisLucidus you are right that WBTB is a best technique to have Lucid Dreams but there days I am missing it because of late night sleep. I am busy in some projects these days thats why i am not able to get up between my sleep. My Now I will maintain my sleep and start WBTB again.

In my next emails I am going to give you report about your questions.

      Thanks for concerning.

      Take care

Hi Jawad! If I read that right, it sounds like you are sleeping until about noon. Since the sun is out big time by then, it may pay off for you to examine your sleeping environment. What you will want to watch out for there is keeping yourself from being exposed to sunlight while you are trying to have your late-morning sleep. Your best REM is going to come toward the end of sleep, so things like black-out curtains and even sleep masks could be helpful if you are having any trouble keeping the sun out of your room.

Speaking from personal experience, I get my best sleep when my room is pitch dark. The more like a cave, the better, at least for me. The shutters in our bedroom just can't quite keep out all of the sunlight, I find, but I get around that by going to bed pretty early most nights.

Anyway, just some food for thought. Good job as usual keeping up with your journaling!

      Hope you are very well.
You are right. But instead of everything I am going to correct my sleep timing. And I am also going to arrange black-out curtain for my room's window.
      Thanks for your advice.
      Best of Luck

Good! Very good, in fact... this is a great list.

My personal recommendation for dream signs is to take special note any time that you encounter or think about these things. For example, when you see one of your brothers, think about war, etc. immediately try to prove to yourself whether or not this is a dream. Do it suddenly and with some urgency. Give yourself that, "Oh crap, I forgot something!" feeling.

Do you know that feeling you get when you almost forget to do some important task or make some important payment? That bolt of reminder from out of nowhere? That is called "prospective memory", and it works even in non-lucid dreams. You want to feel that when you're in a dream. You want your prospective memory to come to life in the dream and remind you that, "Oh yeah! I was supposed to be making sure I'm not dreaming!" The habit of prospective memory is one that can cross the border between waking life and dream life.

This is IMO the best use of dream signs, and the "feeling" I get in the majority of my DILDs. If you are interested in a really thorough treatment of dream signs, Steven LaBerge's descriptions in "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" are very illuminating.

You can reality check anytime your dream signs come into your mind, even if they're not there physically. Whenever something reminds you of them, reality check. Also, you can do your other normal reality checks, and while you are doing them, look around you and seeif your dream signs might be there. Sometimes in dreams, they're there but you just dont notice them

At this point, I'd say assess whether you want to continue honing and refining your practices with DILD or if you want to try on another technique. You may find that a more regimented technique in the DILD family (such as MILD) could be a good fit for you. There's a MILD guide in the "Resources" section of the class, so I might suggest giving that a look if you're interested in that technique.

But that's just what occurs to me. Sticking with what you're doing is also fine... you did get lucid this way! And perhaps take another look at lesson II and see whether you see some other tech that looks good to you. Think it over and see what looks right for you!

      07-01-2013-Homework

      Homework- Submission

1st of all I would like to tell you that Why these days I am not submitting my workbook. In fact its my wedding by next month and I am busy in different preparations. So thats why I was missing.

And Good News is I had 4 Lucid Dreams in only 10 days. Two LD's were transformed from normal dream. And two were WILD. :-)

I had two WILD while listening following Hypnosis: Sleep Hypnosis Easy Lucid Dreaming - YouTube

I have a confusion. I was not having any lucid dream when I was struggling for Lucid Dreams. But When I left every kind of technique and was busy in my wedding shopping then I started to have lucid dreams continuously. What is the fact behind this?

      Thanks

Hey, congratulations on your coming wedding, Jawad! It's great that your practice has done so well when you're no doubt distracted with lots of waking life duties.

You asked what went right for you here. If I had to guess, you probably felt less stressed about lucid dreaming once you allowed yourself not to get too bothered when you didn't have one. It's completely normal for lucid dream frequency to ebb and flow, and it's best not to get upset about this natural process. In addition, planning for a wedding probably led to more interesting day residue.

It could also be that hypnosis works exceptionally well for you! It's really cool that you had success with that. Did you put that on after WBTB?

So all in all, you kept up your WBTB (very important IMO), didn't stress yourself out by worrying so much when you didn't have an LD, and just generally grew more skilled as a lucid dreamer. All great stuff!

Congratulations on your success and coming nuptials... keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for guidance.

Yes I did it after WBTB.

I have one more question Why i couldn't pass my fingers through my hand?

Can we see our reflection in mirrors in dream?

Cool, I will definitely have to try your hypnosis video out at some point. I tried one when I was first trying to lucid dream, but I knew basically nothing about how to LD. I put it on at the beginning of the night (I still didn't know I should WBTB at this point, lol). When the narrator whispered "Do a reality check!" it scared the heck out of me and woke me up. I'll do it right this time.

The finger through palm reality check isn't always 100% reliable unfortunately. It has always worked for me in the end but sometimes it takes tremendous effort. I have to really focus, and sometimes twist my finger back and forth and kind of screw it into my palm. I still use this RC because I find it so cool, but the reliability just isn't top notch. (Nose pinch is probably the best I've found.)

I always can, although I'm often dressed differently or look extremely buff. OpheliaBlue does tons of work with mirrors in her dreams, so she definitely can. Xanous has definitely caught his own reflection in a mirror before. All in all, they work well for most people.

And of course, the best way to find out how mirrors work for you is to try it and let us know how it goes!
