      I was trying to drift off to sleep when I started seeing swirling colors I performed 3 reality checks and I was awake why did I see that?

      Welcome to the intro class. Those swirling colors are called "hypnagogic imagery". They are very normal, and you get them when you start falling asleep. Your mind and body are starting to drift off so you have some moments where you're half awake/half asleep, so some dreamy aspects start to form right before your eyes. It's nothing to worry about

      Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
