Welcome galentorsk - I like your name.
You may well have been lucid last night. Early attempts sometimes end in a quick exit due to excitement, but don't worry - keep at it and you will be able to stay lucid for longer. I'm at about 7 minutes now.
Try to think about what you want to do next time you become aware in a dream. Look into stabilization. I immediately rub my hands together, as this takes the focus off my physical body and grounds me in the dream. I try to remember to do it again if the dream becomes unstable. But if something - anything - is nearby, you can also touch that. Explore it a bit. Maybe a chair or a wall. I just like the hands because they are - well, handy.
I try to think of sentences to use a bit like a mantra as often as I remember during the day, and again before going to sleep. Something like "Next time I'm dreaming, I will become lucid and jump 2 metres into the air." Try not to confuse yourself with too many goals at a time, because once you're in there you want to be completely focused and this is not the time to decide what to do. Have it planned in advance.
Happy dreaming!
