      Galentorsk's workbook

      Reality Checks:
-Trying to breath through plugged nose.
      -Checking my hand, counting fingers.
-Pushing my thumb through my hand.

      Dream Signs:
-I tried to write down what I dreamt last night but I only remember a tiny bit of what actually happened.
It feels like I remember everything the moment I wake up but a couple of seconds later I forget the most of the dream.
Only sometimes I can remember my dream to fully potential, I guess I need to train this up in some kind of way.

      UPDATE:
      - While I was on the bus today I drove by my drivingschool I used to go to some months ago. At that moment I realized what I'd dreamt of last night. I dreamed about that my driverslisence had been recalled because the drivingschool I had did not accept the result I got on the test I did some months ago. I already had the driverslisence so I started arguying with my drivingschool teacher and in the end my dad showed up and told me I had to do the test again. More than that I don't remember.

      - I've also checked my dreambook or whatever it's called and I don't remember anything of what I've written down on that paper, it's almost scary how you forget your dreams so quickly.

      Short-Term Goals:
      -Becoming Lucid.
      -Remember my dreams better.
-Staying Lucid while I'm aware of that it's all a dream.

      Long-Term Goals:
-Being able to have a Lucid Dream whenever I like to.
-Being able to control my lucidity.
-Be able to do crazy stuff in my dream such as flying, creating objects etc.
-Being able to play backgroundmusic in my dreams (since I've seen people have actually aquired this ability)

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
It actually felt like I became Lucid once last night but I woke up the moment I realized.
I'm not sure if it really happened or if I only think it happened, as I said... my memory of dreams is not always in top form.

      Current Technique:
Reality Checks, haven't really tried more than that. I'm also trying to write a dreambook, or whatever it's called. (Pretty new with all this...)

Welcome galentorsk - I like your name.

You may well have been lucid last night. Early attempts sometimes end in a quick exit due to excitement, but don't worry - keep at it and you will be able to stay lucid for longer. I'm at about 7 minutes now.

Try to think about what you want to do next time you become aware in a dream. Look into stabilization. I immediately rub my hands together, as this takes the focus off my physical body and grounds me in the dream. I try to remember to do it again if the dream becomes unstable. But if something - anything - is nearby, you can also touch that. Explore it a bit. Maybe a chair or a wall. I just like the hands because they are - well, handy.

I try to think of sentences to use a bit like a mantra as often as I remember during the day, and again before going to sleep. Something like "Next time I'm dreaming, I will become lucid and jump 2 metres into the air." Try not to confuse yourself with too many goals at a time, because once you're in there you want to be completely focused and this is not the time to decide what to do. Have it planned in advance.

      Happy dreaming!

hahah, I just thought of the most random name I could think of and there you have it.

And thanks for the info, it just feels like I was successful but I still failed because I didn't get to do anything in the dream since I woke up immidiateley. I'll try to think something out tonight before I go to sleep so I know what I'm supposed to do when I become lucid. Let's just hope I get lucky tonight and finally get to control my dream.

      Welcome galentorsk!

First of all, to help with recall, here's something that I find helps me alot (especially if I wake up in between dreams and don't write anything down before falling back to sleep): I make myself remember a few keywords from the dream. For example, the moment you wake up if you remembered being in a dark house holding a tea kettle, then remember: dark, house, tea kettle. Even say them aloud. This usually buys you a bit of time and can save your recall just enough for you to get up and write it down. Which brings me to my next point..

Your dreambook, or dream journal. We actually have one on the site you can use. I use it alot. It's here. Just click on "Create DJ Entry" and you can start your journal. You can customize it, and use tags, and members can comment too if you like. I really like this feature.

Anyway, congrats on the lucid, even if it was just a second. I counts as long as you recognized that you were dreaming before you woke up. And like Sibyline said, excitement can be the culprit in waking you up too soon, so just remember to remain calm. And have a quick list of things you want to do the next time you have a lucid, so you don't waste any time!

Good luck and keep us posted. And let me know if you start that journal. It really helps with recall alot too!
