      Katie's workbook

Hi everyone, I'm Katie and I'm a sophomore in high school. Outside of schoolwork and sports, I don't usually have time for anything other than sleep; so might as well make the most of it! I first learned about lucid dreaming around Christmas 2012. I was immediately intrigued by it and I read about it online. After a few weeks of disappointing results, I spent less and less time thinking about lucid dreaming and eventually forgot about it. Somewhere around November 2013, I had my first lucid dream (I talk about it later in my workbook.) It was so unexpected and I had no idea what to do so I basically butchered my first opportunity for a lucid dream. Anyways, I usually listen to podcasts in the morning on the way to school and that's how I discovered dream views! I've been meaning to focus more on lucid dreaming lately and coming across dream views was exactly the motivation that I needed!

      Reality Checks:
      -pinching skin
      -reading signs/checking clock
      -jumping

      Dream Signs:
      -being at school
-driving (I can't drive yet but in dreams I tend to drive and get in car accidents)
-interacting with random people that I go to school with but rarely talk to in real life

      Short-Term Goals:
      -achieving lucidity
      -sustaining that lucidity
      -improving self-awareness
      -improve dream recall
      -use DJ daily
      Long-Term Goals:
      -WILD
-do the tasks of the month & year
      -have frequent lucid dreams

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
-I've only had one lucid dream. I was walking through a hallway in my school and for some reason I knew that I was dreaming. I didn't stop to do a reality check or anything because I was super excited. I ran forward and the dream scene immediately changed into a completely white room. I wasn't sure what to make of the situation so I said "show me a rainforest!" After I said this, I woke up. I know that I handled just about EVERY aspect of this dream incorrectly; I hadn't researched lucid dreaming or even thought about it for a long time. I first learned about lucid dreaming a year before that so I couldn't remember any techniques or methods of staying lucid etc.

      Current Technique:
      -DILD

      Welcome to Dreamviews Katie.

You seem like a pretty standard new lucid dreamer! You seem to have most things worked out which is great, so keep at it. It's good to have some Lucid Experience under your belt before you really get into the art of it. A quick question for you Katie, have you got a dream journal that you're writing your dreams down in? If not I would highly suggest it. Any questions you may have you can ask them (Via Private Message or Just posting here.)

      Good luck!

Good to know, I don't post mine here either, some of them are just weird and I don't see the point in writing them out twice, so that's all well and good. Good luck with everything Katie.

I completley butchered my first two attempts as well... I just get so excited knowing that I finally succeeded that I end out waking myself up. I am hoping I can get to the point where the novelty will wear off enough to at least keep my enthusiasm under control enough to stay asleep.
      Keep at it! Good luck!

Okay so last night I actually listened to this for the first time to try out dream yoga. I really relaxed me and at some point in the middle of it I fell asleep. Around 2 am I woke up and realized that the video was still up on my ipad because I didn't turn it off. After this, I drifted back to sleep and had a DILD.

I was walking down a hallway which appeared to be in a school and I was talking to a girl. She asked me if I was pregnant (this is one of my dream signs because for some reason I always have dreams where I'm pregnant) so I immediately knew that I was dreaming. I was excited to go explore the dream world so I started running down the hallway with her while looking for something to do. My vision started off pretty clear but it began to fade and become blurry. I stopped to look at my hands and I asked the girl to wait. She seemed very offended and kept running. After looking at my hands to focus my vision, I kept exploring the building. I was looking for a DC because I wanted to complete the TOTM. I came a across a room full of people so I asked a girl if she knew who my soul mate was. She responded with, "I DON'T KNOW WHO YOUR SOUL MATE IS! ALL I KNOW IS THAT YOU SLEPT WITH MY BOYFRIEND!" So...I completed the TOTM even though that wasn't quite the response that I expected (the DCs in this dream weren't very fond of me) I left the school and outside of it was a neighborhood. It looked pretty boring and I wanted to change my surroundings. I sat down and expected there to be a beach when I opened my eyes. Instead of a beach, I woke up on the lawn of my house. Sometime after this I lost lucidity because I thought that I had actually woken up on my own lawn.

*this was my third LD and my self-awareness was better than the other two

That is awesome! Congrats! I am failing spectacularly every night, but dreams are still fun even if they aren't LDs.

I'm telling you these DCs just don't like me!! I listened to a DV podcast the other day though about how to deal with angry DCs and it was super helpful! Hopfully next time I'll handle it better

*Feb 24th I try a WBTB at 4 am, went to bed at 10*
I had a very realistic false awakening. Cool dream, but I never became lucid

Hey! I think I might even know the podcast you're talking about!

Those ultra-realistic false awakenings are insane. I catch some of them but I have to admit that a huge number of them slip right by me. The good news is that they only started happening for me once I began to lucid dream regularly. A well-executed WBTB is very likely to spur them on, I think.

Honestly, some of them are so realistic that even when you wonder whether it's a dream, you can't even believe it. The best defense I know is to just hit those reality checks.

Keep up the good work! Nice wings BTW.
