Not sure if it was the mantra, or all the researching I did, but I seemed to be pretty aware in my dreams this morning. Now, I'm not done experimenting with SSILD, I just thought it'd be nice to try something else out for now, so I don't get tired of the one tech.
That's understandable. You can have more than one tech at a time and better to have more than one for more lds. My best months were when I was combining most techniques, I was doing RCs, ADA, autosuggestion 'I'm dreaming/realize I'm dreaming' during the day, wbtb with mantra and as I see fit the occasional ssild with wbtb and some sort of (I guess it's) MILD thing pre bed.

      Day 29

Hahah, and here I was thinking I'd make my head explode if I tried to do too much at once
The more the merrier, it seems Thanks, NyxCC!

      Day 29

I went to bed really late again, and I only repeated my mantra three times, at the most. I ended up having a nightmarish dream this morning, which I feel amazing about. I wasn't scared exactly, so I'm hesitant to call it an actual nightmare. Whatever it was, it was awesomely vivid, and I could remember it very clearly when I woke up.... Yay for clear dreams!

      Day 30

Had work this morning, and I couldn't remember a single dream or fragment when I got up. I actually had a natural awakening around 2:20AM, but nothing good came from it. I was tired and wanting to get back to sleep. I either couldn't get back to sleep, or I dreamt of tossing and turning. Didn't RC at all, so there's no real way of knowing.

I may have to work tomorrow morning as well, but I doubt it. If I do I'll just try to sleep through the night again. If not, well.... I'm going to plan on lucid dreaming!

      Day 31

Went to bed at 10 last night, set a WBTB alarm for 4:30. Woke up straight out of a dream, which I quickly recorded. It was very vivid and easy to remember. I was really tired, but excited. I stayed up for 30 minutes, and then I got back in bed and did some SSILD cycles. I managed about 4 short cycles, and then I started to lose focus.

I must have begun to think about the dream I'd been having before I woke up, because I ended up back in the same place as before, but with a few different aspects. I couldn't remember it as clearly, but the parts that I can remember involve me considering things from WL, in a very rational kind of way (rational for dreams, anyway.) That's new for me.

I think my problem this morning was my lack of intent. I was focused on doing the SSILD cycles lazily, and also on my first dream. Didn't think about attaining lucidity. Still, I managed to get back to that first dream That's good enough for me, for now!

      Thanks for reading!

That sounds promising, quite close to a sort of DEILD or MILD if you went back to the same scene. And the fact that you were more rational than your usual self. I think you maybe need a goal, something to passionately think about, that you want to do in your next ld. Sometimes dreams provide you with a goal like this, at other times you can pick one in advance and look forward to completing it.

      Day 32

Didn't sleep well last night, I went to bed a little stressed. So far I've remembered one dream fragment, but it was very realistic. Involved me finding something I'd lost, and when I recalled the dream I almost thought it was a WL memory. But what I found isn't where I put it in the dream, and it still seems to be lost, so...!

I had to really think about this for a few hours lol... Made me realize that I'd been looking to lucid dream without any ideas on what to do when I got there. So I did some brainstorming this morning and came up with a 3-page list of goals in my DJ. Whatever I could think of that interested me, I wrote down. I'm going to work on one goal at a time, in no particular order... First goal is flying a jet! Thanks again, NyxCC!! I honestly can't remember the last time I was so excited to dream! It's been a few years, at least.

      Day 33

Another surprise sleepover last night. Got to bed around 1:30AM. My friend woke me up out of a dream at around 8:10... I'd been underwater just before I woke up, holding my breath, and my friend told me it looked like I was having trouble breathing. I was on my side and felt fine, so I just shrugged it off and recorded my dream. (I've never experienced sleep apnea; don't know much about it, but I was under the impression it only happens when lying on your back.... I think I must've been really close to waking up, and that's why my breathing was getting shorter.)

The dream was vivd and I was again unusually aware in it. Didn't question my surroundings, but I was definitely keeping tabs on them.

      Day 34-36

      Day 34 (June 25th)

I worked this morning, so I had to get up at 4:30. I still set a WBTB alarm, just to see if I could remember more dreams. The alarm was for 1:30, and I was really tired when I woke up. Couldn't remember any dreams, so I went back to sleep. I fell asleep thinking of insomnia; tossing and turning. When I woke up at 4:30 I couldn't recall any dreams. Took me a little while to realize that I had dreamt of tossing and turning.

      Day 35 (June 26th)

Had a full nights sleep, and I slept through my WBTB alarm. The dream I could remember was very vague and unclear. Beyond a few dream fragments, I had the feeling that I'd been doing somethng important, like a mission or something.

      Day 36 (Today)

Last night I decided to work on a new goal for now. I've only ever been on a plane once, when I was three.... I'll get back to flying that jet

My new goal is revisiting dreams that I've already had. I set a WBTB alarm for 4:30 this morning, I chose a dream I had just a few days ago. Woke up naturally at 4:20, so I turned off the alarm. Stayed up for maybe 20 minutes, thinking about the dream (which had a lot of water in it). I didn't get back to the dream I wanted to, but there was a lot of water in the dream I did have.

Work tomorrow morning, so I may not set an alarm, but I'll MILD going to sleep tonight.

      Day 37-40

      Day 37 (June 28th)

Had to work, so no WBTB (well, I set an alarm, but slept thru it). Woke up at 4:19 out of a dream, which I recorded before getting ready for the day.

      Day 38 (June 29th)

Fell off a horse on Day 37 (got right back up there and rode for 2 hours!), it wore me out. Slept for over 12 hours, slept thru a WBTB alarm, and had difficulty recalling dreams.

      Day 39 (June 30th)

I set three alarms tonight. One for 4:19, one for 5:30, and one for 6:30. Accidentally set the last two alarms for PM, oops. I woke up to the 4:19 one, out of a dream again. Felt way too tired to bother getting up and recording the dream, so I focused on remembering it as clearly as possible as I fell back to sleep. When I woke up for the day (around 8) I couldn't remember that first dream, but I could recall another one, and a fragment of the dream scene I've been focusing on reentering.

      Day 40 (today)

Set 3 WBTB alarms again; 4:10, 5:15, and 6:20. It was essentially a repeat of yesterday morning, except that my last two alarms were set correctly. I felt really tired when the 4:10 alarm went off, so I didn't get up to record my dream. Went over it in my head, trying to memorize it. Can't remember it now. I woke up out of another dream at 5:30, but this time I was so tired that I was awake for what felt like less than 1 minute.

Tonight I'll set the same 3 alarms, but I'll add a few extras, one minute after the originals. To help keep me from falling right back to sleep.

      Day 41-

      Day 41 & 42 (July 2nd & 3rd)

My recall was weird these two days. Could only remember tiny fragments, and they were really vague.

      Day 43 (July 4th, today)

I went to bed late, and I didn't set any WBTB alarms. Was asleep by 12, and then I woke up naturally at 6. Couldn't remember any dreams, I fell back to sleep. Woke up again an hour later, and this time I could remember a large portion of the dream I'd been having, along with a handful of fragments.

I was lucid for part of my dream this morning!! It was pretty fun, even though I didn't do much to change the dream (I mean, I didn't Try to change anything. I just watched the changes play out.) It was a very low level of lucidity, but it was awesome nonetheless.

I have work tomorrow morning, and I'm feeling pretty tired today, so I'll do my best to catch up on sleep tonight.

      Day 44-46

      Thanks so much Nyx!

      Day 44 (July 5th)

Worked in the morning, couldn't recall any dreams

      Day 45 (July 6th)

I was kinda exhausted, so no WBTB alarms. I did wake up out of a dream in the morning though, and I was able to recall at least half of it in detail.

      Day 46 (July 7)

Still really tired today, and my recall was a bit iffy this morning. I recalled a few fragments. Tonight I'm planning on setting a WBTB alarm 7 hours after I fall asleep; I don't want to wake up too tired to LD.

      Day 47, July 8th

Didn't time my WBTB alarm right, I think. The alarm was going off for a good while before I woke up enough to turn it off; I was still asleep when I first noticed it, but I was in such a deep sleep that it didn't really alert me at first.

The bright side is that when I did finally wake up, it was enough to set my intention on dreaming (just dreaming, not LDing....) I think I got lucid for a split second in the middle of the dream I ended up having; even if I didn't, I was very grounded in the dream, very in the moment (and if I did, I lost it by getting too caught up with the dream - it was an intense moment).

This is a huge difference from when I first started all this. It's made me realize something pretty big about my dreams.... I used to always go to bed, focused on Sleeping. I never realized I was still technically awake in my sleep. Now I go to sleep focused on being aware in my dreams, and being active in them. It's pretty awesome and still really exciting!

Very nice Mouse, this is how we do it - we set the intention and expect an ld. And you did pretty well there!

You know, I believe we have multiple opportunities each night when we can become lucid in moments like these. Keep expecting those little moments to pop up and work towards taking advantage of them. It helps to have the next ld goal repeated pre bed so when the ld comes we are ready to act. But then even just capturing the moments is awesome by itself.

      Days 48-52

Thanks Nyx! I had one of those moments this morning I think, but I wasn't aware enough to capture it. Still, it was a good morning for dreaming and recall!

      Day 48 (July 9th) to Day 51 (July 12th)

Hit a bit of a dry spell these days. I could only recall vague Ideas of what I'd dreamt of, and it wasn't enough to write anything down.

      Day 52, today

And finally my recall has snapped back. I didn't do a WBTB last night because I worked yesterday, and I was feeling very tired. I woke up out of a dream this morning though, and I managed to reenter it. It's weird though, it's not like I meant to, or even wanted to. I woke up very tired, and I didn't want to get up to record my dream just yet. I was thinking about the dream, trying to memorize it, and then I was in it again. No lucidity, but it was cool. I used MMR (Mental Map Recall) this morning, and it was pretty helpful!

      Thanks for reading!

Congrats on the breakthrough this month! The whole world really starts to look different when we finally wake up to all the possibilities we've been missing by merely sleeping at night!

      Day 53

Soo WL demanded my full attention for the past month or so. I continued to record dreams in my journal on days that I could recall them, but I wasn't using any techs. My recall went from 1-2 dreams a night to about 2 dreams a week, until last week. Things started to calm down so I returned my focus to dreams.

I went to bed last night with my intention set on dreaming, and I woke naturally at 4 AM. I drank a glass of apple juice and stayed awake for about 30 minutes. I tried some SSILD cycles as I fell asleep, but I only got through about three before my mind drifted completely. I transitioned right into a dream but I'd lost awareness. My dreams for the rest of the morning were really vivd though, and I had quite a bit to write down when I'd woken up.

Besides all that.... It's great to be back!!!
