      Sleep Paralysis?

Last night I went to bed at a decent time, I lied there still waiting for Sleep Paralysis. about an hour passes and the only sensation i got was being weighted down, my legs felt restless (though I didn't move them), my arm itched, and my eyelids started to move rapidly, does this mean I was getting closer to SP? and how do I know when I'm there?

I'm not an expert on SP and I'm no good at WILDing at all (I can lay in bed for an hour and not fall asleep), but from what I hear, if you're in SP then you'll know it. When you're in SP, you're paralyzed. You can't move. I have heard, though, that if your eyes are starting to move you're getting close.

As far as achieving SP and moving into a WILD, it likely will just take some practice. Try not to get frustrated if you're not achieving results right away, and if it's not working after a week or so of trying, move on to another induction method. Everyone dreams differently, so you just have to find what works for you Let us know if there's any way we can help.

And welcome to DV! Let us know if there's other ways we can help you out here. Hope to see you around!

i had a similar experience when i tried to WILD during a nap earlier. i've never tried so this was my first time. i layed down and started listening to binaural beats and counting my breathes. by about 10 minutes i couldnt tell where my hands were. then my eyes started twitching very rapidly and i could feel my heart begin to pound and a warm tingly sensation run over my chest. it kind of freaked me out. then it subsided.. but i wasnt sure if i was in SP or not either. i layed there for another 15 minutes or so, still feeling numb and very calm, waiting to start dreaming. then i woke up about an hour later unable to recall dreaming at all. So i was wondering what to do to get from where i was to the LD state too... any advice?

Sleep paralysis is not necessary for WILD. Don't make it a goal during your WILD. Don't even worry about it, beyond knowing how to recognize it if it does hit you.

The Robot guy is right, you don't need it to WILD. I actually have had a harder time achieving it with sleep paralysis. The one thing you should look out for is Hypnagogic Hallucinations (HH) such as intense vibrating up and down your body, floating, strange noises, etc. If you do get sleep paralysis then just do what you would do if it were HH. Imagine yourself rolling out of bed, or let your body go by floating away into dream land.

At least that's what I do. If you want more information about sleep paralysis, check my signature.

How do you know you've made the transition?

You'll know once you're in the dream. However, if you wake up afterward, do NOT forgot to do a reality check. You'd be surprised on how well your mind can mimic the environment of which you sleep in, so you may take a slap to the face to find out your actually dreaming.
