New member, trying to dream big

Hey dreamviews, i first got an interest in lucid dreaming about a year ago when i saw a movie called waking life. The movie left me at a good starting point but i found i would need to do more research. On and off i kept a dream journal but lately i have been quite committed and am doing my best to go lucid. One concern i have is that my dream segments are often kind of short. I get at least something down in my dj everyday but sometimes its a very short scene that doesnt seem to lead anywhere or come from anywhere. I would like my dreams to be longer and more vivid, any tips? Anyways so far i've learned quite a bit from this site and hope to learn plenty more. Hopefully i'll be lucid soon.

Be sure to do Reality Checks (ie: Holding your nose and trying to breath) throughout the day. Eventually you will do them in your dreams, giving you the cue that you are dreaming. (in a dream, you can always breathe.) Heck, last night my my first time trying for lucidity. I did a reality check 3 times yesterday, and I was semi-lucid in the dream for 2-3 seconds.
